This 2TB SSD is one of the best if not the best I have ever owned. I have desktop SSDs, NAS systems, and external hard drives, but they are all made for a desktop. This tiny drive can fit in your pocket and has incredibly fast transfer speeds. If you have an iPhone 15, it can be used to capture ProRES video/photography. The price point is affordable for the value it provides. A lot of influencers and content creators use this drive because of its reliability, portability, and speed. I am thinking of purchasing a couple more for different projects. Definitely 5 stars!

I enjoyed a deal over Black Friday (prices fluctuate, so watch/act promptly), but I've been really pleased with this purchase. I bought dozens of spinning hard disks and just a few SSDs in my lifetime, but after reading reviews and considering specs/price/performance, I decided to try this drive, and I was not disappointed. I formatted the 4TB drive for use (via a 10 GBPS port replicator) on a MacOS Sonoma computer specifically as a Time Machine backup. No issues whatsoever with setup and although I previously did not use Time Machine, I have to say this device seems to respond really fast. I honestly wish every drive in my home was this Crucial SSD -- it's compact, fast, and so far, reliable.

I bought this drive to use as a Time Machine backup device. It has USB-C plugs on both ends of the cord. I plugged it in and it mounted immediately on the desktop. I did have to reformat it to Time Machine specs. The one question I have that isn't answered since I just got it, is whether this has to be unmounted every single time I shut my computer down or put it to sleep. (I typically let it sleep since it has an SSD and doesn't generate heat like a normal hard drive would. Hence the reason for a Crucial SSD external drive.) Anyway, a pop-up message came up when I got back on the Mac and it said it was not ejected properly?? I didn't eject it. I simply put the Mac to sleep. Why does it have to be ejected? I don't eject my clients' thumb drives every time? So this could potentially be a bit of a PITA. At any rate, I'm currently letting Time Machine do its backup and 385GB of information appears to be taking roughly 20 minutes to copy. No noise or overheating noted. It's very very small and lightweight also. I do really like Crucial products, and also use their memory in my Mac with zero issues. For the price of less than $50, it's a solid deal.

I've had a lot of various type of storage devices, but the "Crucial 4TB" is one of the best I have had so far. I already own 5 of these and I have not had a problem since I started using them.

These devices are very solid and I have not had a problem with stability nor storage. They are super light weight and very easy to fit in any compartment of a backpack, case, or other form of carry-on. I been able to store music, videos, and zip/rar files without a problem. Reading and writing files back-and-forth have not been an issue at all, especially if you use it to store videos and music, and you want to hear and play back video/audio files directly from the storage device.

There's no worry about stability, I have been using these devices for over 2 years now and have never had one give me read issues. (Although I do constantly do defrags and checks regularly so that usually helps)

There are a few concerns you will need to know when you order these...

1.) Although read/write are very stable, I have never had one that reads faster than 50+ Mb/s

2.) This device is not ideal for copying tons of 5Kb-100Kb files, it's very slow to write when it comes to several thousand image or text files (Or similar files of similar size), I was copying over several image files I have stored and it took hours to copy over. Large size (500 Mb - 30 Gb) files copy over quickly and easily, but several small size files (5Kb or less to 100Kb) took forever. Keep this in mind if you need to move tons of image or text files or several thousand other small-size files

3.) It's best to also order extra USB-C codes as the cord that comes with the device is only about 3 inches long. Plus, both ends of the cord are USB-C. So unless you have a USB-C reader, you might wanted to order some extra codes for it. You can usually get a pack of 3 for about $5-$10.

4.) When it comes to listening to music or watching a movie, I have never had a problem with either file types when it comes to reading the files. However, do not watch a movie or listen to music while files are being transferred as it will interfere with the read/write speeds. Plus, doing so will interfere with the video and audio files and will cause your video and audio files to skip or momentarily stop playing as files are being transferred.

Other than what is mentioned, I have not had a real serious issues with the storage devices. Keep doing defrags every so often and they will always work great.
