The handbrake in my daughter's TJ wouldn't hold at all. I crawled underneath to find the adjuster so corroded, there was no hope for getting it to move. Ordered this piece, it arrived very quickly, and works exactly like it should. I had to cut off the original to get it out of the way but this one went right in and allowed me to adjust her handbrake so she can now park safely in our driveway, which is pretty steep!

Take the original parking brake assembly off of the XJ. Had to cut mine. Take the leveling bracket from the old one and replace the leveling bracket on the new one. Then it is a perfect fit in the channel under the XJ. The "leveling bracket" is the part that each of the rear brake cables attaches to. The other end has the lever cable attached to it. It's that big, black thing in the middle, on the threaded shaft, that has two holes, one for each brake cable. Put the old one in it's place. Then it is a direct replacement.

I used this on a Jeep Cherokee XJ and it worked out fine for a KJ disc brake swap. You may want to paint it before installing. The coating that came on it survived a few weeks before rust started poking through.
