I have bought a lot of ponchos looking for the perfect one. The ripstop feature is what prompted this buy. Familiar with it in the military, it usually means lightweight fabric - which is a big plus for this poncho. My first test the other day, a medium drizzle, 90 +/- walk - was wet at the end (like my British SAS poncho). Either water leeching through or (most likely) thermal condensation on the inside. Ponchos can be a little sweaty too, to be fair. But that wasn't an issue with the cheap quality Coleman poncho (which is destroyed when ripped, which happens easily with that one). This ponchos stuff sack is nice, but is a little too small. Not friendly for repacking, especially while walking. But this doesn't make it a bad poncho, esp for the price. I stops from getting drenched, is VERY lightweight and the ripstop is always nice.
Snag and Tear resistance excellent! Fits This 6'4" Person.

I am 6 foot 4 inches at 300 pounds. I find this size comfortable draping to just below my knees when standing and loose about my 19 inch neck. Mate of 5 feet 10 inches wears same poncho without tripping/stepping on it, a manageable size for her. I wear a "trucker" type hat under the hood comfortably, (without the hat and its brim, if I turn my head I am looking into the side of the hood). Blaze orange poncho is for my vehicle emergency kit, not used yet. Have worn the same poncho in camouflage hiking in woods. Worst obstacles encountered include thistle, burdock weeds, wild rose bush, tall grasses and climbing over barbed wire fences. Have yet to have a rip or tear. I might manage such obstacles with more effort when in this rain gear than most people would, but I am accustomed to pulling clumps of burdock burs off of my old Cabela's MT050, ("breathable membrane"), suede rain suit traversing the same terrain, this poncho gathers no such burs. That old suit had more than one tear repaired with tent tape. That old suit still works, I just gained weight, the suit is now too small, thus using this poncho. Poncho is not breathable, you will need to vent yourself to avoid sweat wet as you can as needed, but it will keep ALL of the rain off you. I have been comfortable in heavy down pours, and the poncho allows keeping your gear dry by holding it under your poncho which I could not do with the rain suit. Note, on many occasions I did still sweat myself wet in the fancy/expensive MT050 rain suit. Wishing happy, comfortable, adventures to you.
Good value for your money

I've used this more hunting and hiking multiple times. It is thick enough we're I'm not worried it'll ripe and not too thick where it restricts movement
Compact and well made

I ordered a size larger than what is recommended and I'm glad I did. I'm 5'8" and the large comes down half way between my knees and my shoes. It has a snug opening for the hood so that the wind doesn't blow in but it's big enough to get my baseball cap on under the hood. I've used it several times in wind and fairly heavy rains and it has worked well. If I were going to use it a lot in the wind I might slip a belt on the outside to keep it from flapping.
It's very compact and fits in the little carry bag that comes with it. I may not use it a lot but I figure it's already worth what I paid for it using it half a dozen times.
