This product has been a lifesaver! My daughter trains hard on the ice and having this around her head makes all the difference in my sanity and her saftey and everyone is shocked to find out it isn't just a cool headband or ear warmer

We have tried several different head guards for my daughter, who is a goalkeeper, and the Storelli is by far the least cumbersome while also being the sturdiest. I do find that it stretches a bit over time, especially after getting wet, so the original headguard became too loose after being damp with sweat and rain, and I ended up having to replace it with a smaller size. Bear that in mind when choosing a size.
I have seen a number of head injuries in the ten-plus years I have been a soccer mom, from a goalkeeper being kicked in the head to a recent collision that left one of my kids' teammates bleeding and concussed. In each case, a head guard such as the Storelli would have minimized or even prevented the injury. I don't know about the head guard's utility in preventing head injuries relating to heading the ball (good heading technique is probably more important), but it is definitely useful for cushioning the not-infrequent head-to-head or elbow-to-head collisions in soccer, and it is a must for a goalkeeper.
While it hasn't been difficult to get my GK daughter to wear the head guard, it is more difficult to convince field players like my other kids to wear one. However, out of all the head guards on the market, the Storelli has the most aesthetically pleasing design so that helps.

I bought size 3 and size 4 for my 8-year-old. His head circumference measures to be about 21 inches. Both sizes fit him but decided to keep size 4. I had him jump around to see if it would fall off and it seems to stay in place but we haven't tested in soccer practice yet. I bought this to prevent goose eggs if he runs into another player going for the same ball. I was worried he would reject this so I was relieved when he smiled with approval after he looked in the mirror. Glad there's a company that makes this. Something is better than nothing!
Suggestions for improvement: better packaging so item doesn't come folded with two creases in the foam. I think the size 4 may have been a return because it came in a bag whereas the size 3 came in a nice box with better packaging.
Update: size 4 stretched out. We are saving it for when he's older but I went and ordered size 3 for this year.

My duaghter is 12. Competitive travel soccer player. Recently diagnosed with a concussion. Not from playing soccer but from tripping over a dog toy in the house and doing a face plant. Go figure? I always told her once she got concussed she would be wearing a head guard for the added protection. I understand that these guards do not prevent concussions but I am a firm believer that a little protection is better than nothing. If I were to purposely bang my head on a wall and I had the option of wearing this or not wearing it, I would be a fool not to wear it. If it stops her from getting cut from hitting another players head than it was worth the small investment.
I have purchased the full 90 and the padded headband. They all are not what my daughter considers a fashion statement. I purchased the Storelli because it didnt look too cumbersome. She likes to wear her hair up in a ponytail and this headguard seemed to accommodate it the best with the best protection.
The first couple days she complained a little as she was trying to figure out how to put it on without messing up her headband and her hair. She now likes to slip it on first around her neck, put up her hair and then slide the guard upward. That seems to be the best technique for her. She actually commented that she thinks it doesn't look to bad, kind of like wewring her ear muffs on the cold days.
We ordered her a size 3 according to the website (21.5 circumference- typical 97lb girl) but it may be a little too small? I may have to order her a size 4 which I am not too happy about and having to fork out more money as she already used it Also not knowing if the size 4 will be too big on her.
So overall she/I am happy with the product thus far. Thanks Storelli. I would suggest different colors per my daughters request. Make it more of a fashion statement.
