The narrow base was perfect for the location but only one side of holes was in a solid foundation, in this case wood. I bought 2 #14X2.5 wood screws. The other side is only in a piece of 1/2" drywall. The length of the grab bar when extended gives you to much side to side leverage. I will remove it and add some studs behind the dry wall.
We use it to help get up from the toilet if needed and out of the shower. Also a good place to hang your towel so its easy to reach when getting out of the shower.

The half-bathroom is narrow, so these bars that attach to the back wall on either side of the toilet tank are a great solution. My mother says they are working very well for her when her knees aren't working well. The only downside is that a professional had to install them in order to secure them soundly to the wall. If you are handy enough, you can probably DIY. Also, they had to purchase longer bolts. The grab bars are both folded down in one picture and one bar folded up in the other.
