Wonderful instrument that resonates decently for the price point. Bars are small so it does help if your player has strong fine motor skills. The tone quality is pleasing, and having more than an octave gives the player some flexibility in playing. Highly recommend.

i purchased this as a gift for a toddler
unlike the standard 25-key glockenspiel layout which starts on G, this instrument has 23-keys starting on C. the standard range results in black keys appearing in groups of 2-2-3-2-1, while on this instrument groupings become a sensical 2-3-2-3. i imagine octave equivalency will be more quickly picked up by a child playing on this layout. however, i really wish this instrument had two more keys in the upper end. this would complete a 2-octave range without messing up the black key layout.
quality/quality control is alright for price. the wood of the soundbox is solid and polished, although my unit arrived with a knick on one edge. the coating of the metal of the keys feels like it will last, but doesn't appear very uniformly applied. two sets of mallets are provided, but look pretty cheap. none of the negative things mentioned affect the sound quality, which is excellent. keys are also uniform width and in tune.

You just never know. In this case, the product exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is surprisingly good and clean. The construction is excellent and safe for the little ones. The mallets are made so that the ends don't come off--excellent. I suspect I'll be buying another couple of these for more grandkids!
