You have to make sure paper is at edge where blade is.

Most of the time this works really well. Some thicnesses of wrapping paper seem a little hard to cut. You need to also make sure paper is against blade and help glide it across for cutting.

I don't normally write these but I must say all the poor reviews are unjust. I was able to use this product no problems. I will say I did notice a few things that may have contributed to the poor reviews. First you have to have the paper on a flat surface holding it while trying to cut it will rip the paper. And second if you use thin paper it will rip. I used a regular thick paper from Walmart and it cut like a knife through butter every time. That being said I also tried to use it on paper I bought at the dollar tree and it ripped it to shreds as do scissors sometimes. So I think it's not the product that's the issue but the type of paper and angle people are using.
