I got those on a discount, so less than a buck per can, and that was worth it. They are not the good-old Russian-style, Black Sea flavorful sprats, but those are much more expensive (if you can find them). For those complaining that they're sprats and not sardines, the flavor varies more within each species (both are herrings), than between the species. And sprats tend to be healthier (omega 3 fats), so I prefer them. Yes, sprats are cheaper than sardines, but those were really cheap, anyway, so you get what you pay for. As for packaging issues, I had none, this may be rather related to shipping. I don't know if I'd buy again, maybe if the price falls again, but it's good to have some canned food sitting around for emergencies that's not the bland tuna.

I am an older in my seventies. In my life, I guess I've tried just about every type of sardine you can think of, and I'm talking all types. If you do a YouTube search for guarding how sardines are made, eventually you'll run across some links that will take you to different countries. When I say I guess I've tried pretty much all the different types of sardines that are out there, I can tell you for a fact that I've tried at least over 30 different brands with different types of ingredients. I'm not saying I'm an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I know what I like and what I don't like.
These particular sardines are some of the best I've ever tasted for the price. I highly recommend them.
