Hard wire
Joel Record✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 28, 2023
Description says plug-in but there I one wire that has to be hard wired which makes it impossible to remove when you need the reciever for towing unless you add a plug for that one wire like I did. Otherwise functions as intended
Plug not long enough

It works well when it plugs into the trailer plug under your bumper. It doesn't work when your plug is next to the license tag on your bumper from the factory
Finally.

I wish Pilot Automotive/Bully knew how many of their products I've tested. This one is almost perfect. Almost.
Their CR-007A model was great in its own right. A light that functioned ONLY as a brake light and running light. All other competitors flash with turn signals one way or another and it is absolutely irritating.
I've waited for an LED variant with similar functions of the CR-007A. Yes, I've even modified the 007A with led before.
This one is it. It is plenty bright. Functions as running light and brake light. Does not flash with either turn signal on brake application or not.
The added reverse light option is neat, but not as practical unless the installer uses some type of connector for the wire.
Personally, I'd prefer a unit without that option and a red lens, not clear.
Also, I've taken into account the reviews of moisture issues. I've run a small filler of clear silicone around the perimeter of the lens as well as at the inlet of the wire harness under the unit. These are the only possible ingress locations I found of water. If the lens fogs up, I may drill a tiny hole at the bottom. The original 007's had a notch in the lenses I believe drained moisture. This does not have such notch.
Also, as others also complained, the unit does not fit all the way in some hitches. Unlike the CR-007A, this one does not have a light bulb socket in the center, so a simple modification of a drill and file allowed me to still a new hole for my pin to allow the unit to slide in further into my hitch and be pinned in place.
Pilot/Bully, you almost have things perfect. I'm almost completely impressed. I hope you take new suggestions into consideration and improve the product further despite not having real good competition. No other manufacturer makes a light worth it.
For shoppers on Amazon, I do recommend this unit for LED application, none of their other LED variants are bright enough to be worth anything. For incandescent applications (to match standard brake lights) I recommend CR-007A. Not the CR-007 or CR-007XL. The 'A' model does brake/tail same as this unit. The "XL" model has proven to be unreliable. If one bulb burns out, the unit fails defective.
Have fun and be safe. Might as well add a brake light while covering up that hitch!
Works great!

Works just like had wanted! The brake light and reverse lights are both very noticable!

I did modify it a little,
First off I drilled a new hole in the side to make it fit tighter.
Second- I covered the back where the wires come out with hot glue as I had read reviews saying it got water in it and caused problems! Has kept it all out during rain and car wash!
Third- i cut the wire for the park lights! No point in it always being lit up, with that cut it only lights up with the brake or if hazards are on! Stands out way better!
Easy to install and looks great. *Read below for tips*

The media could not be loaded. I got this light because its hard to see at night when backing up as I dont have a backup camera. I chose this over the different options because of the simplicity and price. Wiring the reverse light was very simple. Total install time took me maybe 1.5 hours as I also put sealant around all the areas water could get inside because they dont have rubber grommets to protect the housing nor the little box from moisture. This is critical in extending the life of the product and I was surprised Bully doesnt seal the unit from the elements at the factory, but what do you expect when its this cheap and works. I also crimped on my own connector for the reverse light wire so the unit isnt permanently attached to my vehicle. If you dont care/want the reverse light, this could be installed in 5 minutes tops since its already wired for the 4 pin trailer type connector.
