I got curious about why the iron quit so I took it apart. Two wires, the neutral and the ground were pulled loose from the circuit board, obviously my fault. I must have accidentally pulled against the iron rather hard as the wires were soldered and fastened securely with the tiniest zip tie I have ever seen. Anyway didn't want to cost the sell as was my fault.
Ordered in February quit in August. Was not very expensive but also wasn't used very much either. Did I get my monies worth. Maybe, but I expected more.
While it worked it was great. Got hot fast, stayed hot. Tip was difficult to keep tinned, maybe not the best tip material but ok. Element did not burn out, the light does not come on and no heat.

I have used a 25w iron in the past for delicate electronic soldering and that takes forever to heat up. With 80w and temperature control this one gets there quickly without overheating. Love it.
But the temperature indicator just tells you what you have set it to, not what the temperature is. It would be nice to have a simple led indicator to tell you when it is at temperature.
The stand is too light and topples, needs to be screwed to the bench. So I use the stand from my other iron. The picture in the description is deceptive.
It is good value and I am surprised at the uses some people put this to as it is cheap.
Solder in kit is only just adequate, melts but seems to have poor flux.
Having said all that I am very pleased, good at the price.

Expect to be looking up lots of information on Google as to what is included cause they do not tell you jack squat what you have. For a beginner like me it's not exactly helpful when you don't even know what certain items are or what they are used for. Another issue is not having true control on the temperature so it's either too hot or not hot enough. Other than that it's certainly a get what you pay for kind of thing.
