The installation and setup wasnt difficult. It took maybe 15 minutes.
The camera has some good features and the app allows you to adjust and customize those features in many ways. Good picture. We've only had it installed for a day but we tested triggering the alerts and it also has given alerts from people walking their dog on the sidewalk on medium sensitivity (25 yards).
Wide angle of view. The night vision is clear.

This works really well. It's nice that the storage is on the device and there is no monthly fee required. My only complaint is the flimsy bracket to attach it to the wall. If it is even slightly bent when attached the wall the doorbell won't clip into position. The sensitivity did need to be adjusted after installation, it started out too sensitive and gave a lot of false detections until it was turned down.

* Our indoor chime stopped working. I finally realized all I had to do was go into the Lorex Home app doorbell settings and set it to "third party chime > mechanical chime." The default was set to "no chime."
- Install was a breeze.
- The 15-degree adapter was great since our doorbell is on the left wall of the front entrance.
- Setup was a breeze. We already use the Lorex Home app, so adding this device was simple.
- Connected to our Wi-Fi network easily.
- We have multiple 4K security cameras, so I was concerned this 1080p doorbell camera might be disappointing. Not at all! Images are nice and crisp.
- Overall couldn't be happier. Would buy again!

Doorbell electronics seems very nice, packaging and accessories also very nice, but missing key mounting adapters that many people will need. Initial video quality is not very good, but it defaults to 1K, so I don't know what 2K looks like yet, I'm working on making sure WiFi is good enough first. If you haven't bought or mounted yours yet, OMG, beware, installation is not for the faint of heart, the instructions look beautiful, but are completely inaccurate, misleading, and somewhat dangerous. I am a very experienced engineer, I can do anything, but this took hours and very many iterations, connect, disconnect, a dozen different problems, trials, and errors. It does seem to work now, for the last 2 hours, fingers crossed I finally did the secret dances all correctly. Please go read what people posted in reviews of this products, many good hints and secrets there which you will need. Top hints:

* check your wiring and voltages and doorbell function before you start
* take your time with everything, rushes will be expensive
* ignore the way they show you how to bend the wires in the diagram, it's backwards! They should curve clockwise on the screw, same as you will turn the screw, or they will come off.
* wire up the doorbell, but don't click it to the mount until all is working!
* mess anything up, and you must factory reset to move forward, which means it comes off the wall, open SD flap, hold pin in little hole 10 sec until it beeps, try again.
* you will do the latter a lot for no reason at all
* for goodness sakes make sure you pick the right access point and type in the right password, or you will regret it
* install the chime kit no matter what, the instructions are wrong
* make sure the chime is selected and enabled in the app, or the doorbell will not ring (default for me was off!)

I like the hardware, except:

* the night vision is horrible, could be the sensor (they don't tell you what it is), it's probably both that and the insufficient IR LED illumination, expect to leave lights on or add your own IR lights if you want to see anything at al in the dark, much less in color.
* many people will not be able to install it with the included angle adapters, the one supplied is nearly useless, so if you are not mounting it flush with the door (pointing out), you will need to find an adapter. * video seems overcompressed, blurry, and shaky with artifacts. I hope 2k mode is better

The app is very primitive and missing important features:

* no indication of WiFi signal strength is given at all, no way to identify or debug issues!
* the Lorex software engineers are idiots, you get one shot each time during setup, do anything wrong, it's disassembly, factory reset, and START ALL OVER from scratch. This includes changing WiFi hotspots, changing (or fixing) the password, you must wipe everything and start over. HORRIBLE!
* Lorex idiots, if you are listening, I repeat--you need to support changing hotspots and passwords live, from the app, without a factory reset, for the love of god!
* The color night vision feature is automatic, you have no control over it
* I have played with it only minutes, and am already dissatisfied, the video player has very limited controls

The Lorex works well, records incidents outside the door to the SD card and it's easy to retrieve them. The alert mechanism works fine to my mobile 📱. The fact that it doesn't require a monthly subscription is a BIG plus. The fact that it records too may events is a minus. So I'd like to give it a 5/5 except (1) it records more incidents than I think it should and (2) the doorbell function doesn't work well as I have yet been able to have a working two way conversation with someone outside the door. They can hear me buy I can't hear them. However, for the money and the functionality and not needing a subscription, it's at least a 4 if nor a 4.5 /5.
