I needed 1 bookend to hold some books, folders, and binders that were flopping forward in a movable drawer. These bookends worked great, but I ended up having to pair 2 together to make them strong enough to do the job. Which was not a bad thing, since this item comes as a pair and I had no idea what I was going to do with the other one. I'd say under normal circumstances, one of these would be fine, but if you've got larger items, like my binders, consider doubling them up or go for something that's heavy duty. But they solved the problem and I'm totally satisfied with my purchase.
