I was able to evacuate almost 4 quarts of fluid from a 2009 Altima. I still had to drop the pan and was able to get another 1.75 quarts out but the car sat over a day or two. It probably works better with oil pans.

It only took me around 15 minutes to pull that oil out so not sure if anyone really needs the pneumatic portion but it is an added bonus. IMO a lot of people complain about it taking too long must be doing it in the extreme cold.

On the last oil change, the mechanic informed me that the drain plug on the oil pan was stripped and he managed to get it secured but next time I would need to either rethread the hole in the oil pan or replace the oil pan which I did not want to deal. So I bought this to change the oil without touching the drain plug. Worked great! Since then I've also used it to drain coolant out of an overflow tank and it worked great for that as well!

I purchased to do oil changes on my sailboat, the hard to access drain plug creates some oil removal challenges. I went for the pneumatic option because I'll eventually use it on my cars. The hand pump option worked really well, and I am anxious to try on the vehicles.

I'm on my second one so far. This one is way easier to use than the original design that I bought about 7 years ago. So far so good!

I've heard mention of these things for a few years now, but it felt exorbitant to spend so much when, meh, it's an oil change for frog's sake, it's not so hard, just get under and get it done.

But lately I've found myself dragging my feet about doing it. Perhaps I'm like a fine wine whose maturation has made it sick of scootching around on dusty driveways and getting pebbles in my hair, dropping drain plugs and getting oil on my ratchet. Wines gets this way as they age, they want more ease in their busy lives.

So I splurged and then tried this on my wife's car yesterday. I don't know whether to cry or hug the canister close to my heart or both "” it worked beautifully and was so easy.

Now, my wife's car was a great first go because I can also get at the oil filter from the top, so I didn't even need to wear my shop clothes. Totally clean job all around, done fast, too easy to be believed.

Tomorrow I'm doing my Toyota and, sadly, the oil filter is only accessible from under. But the ease and cleanliness of this will gladden my heart there too, I'm less dready about it tonight by far. Highly recommended, superb build quality.

My only gripe is that when you pump the handle you must be careful not to pinch your fingers on the way down. Also, kind of hard to see how much oil is collected inside on a bright day. But I could see it well enough in the shade, and it has handy liter/quart marks on the side to make it easy.
