A Versatile and Sturdy Apron for DIY Enthusiasts
Fadi Shamaan✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 24, 2023
I recently purchased the Hudson Durable Goods Heavy Duty Waxed Canvas Work Apron in Grey, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for me. As a DIY enthusiast, I'm constantly getting into projects around the house, and I needed something to keep my clothes clean and protected. This apron did the trick and then some!

First of all, let's talk about the quality. The waxed canvas material is sturdy and durable, but not so heavy that it's uncomfortable to wear. The stitching is top-notch, and I can tell this apron is built to last. Plus, the grey color is stylish and goes with just about anything.

But the real reason I love this apron is the functionality. It has pockets galore, which is perfect for me because I'm always misplacing my tools. The chest pocket is great for holding smaller items like screws and nails, while the larger pockets on the waist are perfect for my hammer, screwdriver, and other tools.

And let's not forget the adjustable straps! I'm a bit on the shorter side, so I appreciate that I can adjust the straps to fit me comfortably. It's also great that the apron is machine washable, so I don't have to worry about getting it dirty.

Now, I have to admit, I'm not the most graceful person in the world. I've spilled my fair share of paint and glue on this apron, but it wipes off easily and doesn't leave any stains. Plus, the waxed canvas repels water, so if I'm working outside in the rain, I don't have to worry about getting soaked.

I have to tell you about a particular incident that happened while I was wearing this apron. I was working on a project that involved using a lot of spray adhesive, and as you can imagine, things got a bit messy. I ended up getting some of the adhesive on my apron, and I was worried it would never come out.

But, to my surprise, when I got home and tossed the apron in the wash, it came out looking good as new! I was so impressed with how well the waxed canvas held up against the adhesive and how easily it cleaned up. It's moments like these that make me appreciate the quality of this apron even more.

Aside from its practical uses, this apron has also become a bit of a conversation starter. Whenever I'm wearing it out in public, I always get compliments and questions about where I got it. It's not every day that you see someone walking around in a work apron, after all.

But, perhaps the funniest moment involving this apron was when I wore it to a barbecue. I was grilling up some burgers and hot dogs, and I didn't want to get grease all over my clothes, so I put on the apron. Well, let's just say that my friends thought it was hilarious that I was wearing a work apron to a casual backyard barbecue. But hey, I like to be prepared for any situation!

One of the things I love about this apron is that it's so versatile. I can wear it while I'm working on my car, woodworking in my garage, or even cooking in my kitchen. The apron is designed to be heavy-duty and to protect your clothing from any spills, stains, or scratches, which is perfect for me since I tend to be a bit clumsy.

Another thing I appreciate about this apron is the attention to detail. The straps are reinforced with metal grommets, which means they won't tear or fray over time. The pockets are also reinforced with double stitching, so I don't have to worry about them wearing out anytime soon.

Additionally, the apron has a cross-back design, which takes the pressure off my neck and distributes the weight evenly across my shoulders. This means that I can wear it for extended periods of time without experiencing any discomfort.

I also love that this apron is unisex, which means that both men and women can wear it comfortably. The adjustable straps make it easy to find the right fit, regardless of your body type.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Hudson Durable Goods Heavy Duty Waxed Canvas Work Apron to anyone who loves to DIY or work with their hands. It's functional, durable, and stylish, and it's made my life a lot easier. 4 out of 5 stars - I only took off a star because I wish it came in more colors!
Huge step up from my leather harbor freight welders apron
Mavistark✓ Verified PurchaseJune 18, 2023
This is my first proper woodwork in apron, for years I've been using a $5 harbor freight used welding apron which to be fair was decent for the price. What I love about this apron is the strap setup so it doesn't pull on my neck it can be adjusted to sit on different shoulders and for different heights to be a specific proximity to your neckline. The pockets are amazing and on top of like the regular pocket you might expect there's also like a hoodie style pocket as well. The pockets are amazing straps are fantastic the waxed canvas is very repellent as well to liquids etc
Fantastic shop apron!

I absolutely love this apron. I replaced a 30 year old apron that wore out and never fit right. This apron is so comfortable I forget I am wearing it! The material is tough, yet pliable and the strap harness helps this to fit perfectly! You can adjust height as well as width of the straps. And the pockets! All are in the correct place and easily accessible. I can see this apron lasting a lifetime. I wish I bought this 30 years ago!
Great for messy grilling!!

The fabric is a little stiff but good when grilling!
A little stiff, but probably the best apron for under $50

I bought six aprons! In my search for the perfect workshop apron, I came across six that were all well-reviewed and prime-ready, so I decided to do a shoot-out.

Bottom line: The best shop apron is the Hudson Woodworking Edition. The best leather apron is the QeeLink. I would be happy with any of them - except the Angry Beaver.

Flipzon Work Apron
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q19DT8R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Pros: Most Affordable, light and comfortable, quality leather accents
Cons: Cheap straps, odd pockets, color (subjective)

Summary: The Flipzon Work Apron is an attractive, light, and comfortable piece that I could see used in a variety of working environments. For the price, it is very impressive. I would say that the main shortfall is the pocket situation: the leather chest straps, while nice in appearance, are only good if your utensils have clips. None of my construction pencils do, so I wouldn't trust them to stay. Further, while the main pocket is quite accommodating, the side pockets are too narrow for almost any of my hand-tools. I can't think of good use for them other than straw storage. Finally, the straps are nylon, lack shoulder pads, buckles, or a connecting piece for the cross-back straps.

Overall: If you're on a budget, don't need too many pockets, and don't mind an apron that isn't classic brown, this one is a great choice.

LEASEEK Leather Welding Work Apron
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNS5SSH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews
Pros: Price, quality leather,
Cons: Cheap straps, heavy, color (subjective)

Summary: The LEASEEK Leather Welding Work Apron is a few improvements away from being a quality apron. It was middle-of-the-road on comfort, had cheap nylon straps and a plastic cross back strap, and the color was pretty orange and splotchy. That being said, the leather did seem of good quality and the smell wasn't as noticeable as some reviewers suggested. I've got a good sense of smell and this apron didn't bother me.

Overall: For an inexpensive leather apron, I think you're getting a good deal, here. However, for a bit more, you could do a lot better. Also, the wife thought this was the ugliest one, so there's that. The QeeLink is superior.
★★★☆☆

Angry Beaver - Waxed Canvas Work Shop Apron
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0774CRW1P/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews
Pros: color, metal grommets, hammer loops
Cons: shoulder pads slip, poor fit, too short

Summary: Of all the aprons I tested, there was only one loser, and here she is. Though it was perhaps the best-looking apron color-wise, the fit was relatively poor and it just seemed to want to bunch in the middle and get shorter - and it's already a bit too short. All of the pockets are the same and they're too shallow unless you're only holding screws. The missing cross back strap was noticeable by comparison. Worst of all, the shoulder straps didn't adjust well and just kept falling sideways down my arms.

Overall: Nice canvas and appealing color, but otherwise, it's a bit of a mess. You could do a lot better.

Leather Work Shop Apron by QeeLink
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079KDMV1Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews
Pros: extremely comfortable, quality leather, pocket layout"¨
Cons: cheap straps

Summary: This is the most comfortable apron that I tried on, hands down. It feels light, but protective, has a pleasant leather smell despite what some reviewers mentioned, and has an excellent pocket layout. The orange may be a bit much for some, and it is probably a touch too long for my 5'7" frame, but I like this one a lot. If it had better quality straps with shoulder pads or a hammer loop, this one would be the best.

Overall: If you want leather over canvas, this here is the one for you. If comfort is most important, it still is. But if you want a bit more quality in the straps, keep reading.

Texas Canvas Waxed Canvas Heavy Duty Shop Apron
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071P9LM7P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Pros: extremely comfortable, quality straps, metal grommets
Cons: limited pockets, color different than pictured

Summary: I'll keep this one short - this one is highly comfortable, has great straps with shoulder pads and a leather cross strap, and all-around just seems really well-made. The color is much lighter than pictured - more like the deluxe version. The packaging was also impressive. The only downside is the pockets just aren't as nice as the Hudson.

Overall: If you don't wanna spend the extra $5 for the Hudson, then this is more than a serviceable shop apron - plus it is more comfortable. If you don't need as much for pockets, I'd go with this one.

Hudson Durable Goods - Woodworking Edition Apron
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0798WWM89/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Pros: all the bells and whistles
"¨Cons: price, stiff

Summary: Look, this one is just the best. It has a great color, excellent quality canvas and straps, a terrific assortment of deep and covered pockets, hammer loops, metal grommets, etc. The only complaint I have is that among such stiff competition, this is the stiffest. It really isn't all that comfortable at first, but after I put a few miles on it, it started to ease-up. I was most torn between this one and the QeeLink, just because I love the feel of nice leather, especially on that particular apron. But at the end of the day, the Hudson is just pure quality and I know it will last me a long time. So for me, this one's the keeper.

Overall: If you can afford it, this one is the best.
