This is a good set for kids

There are a lot of things I like about this set. The pretend makeup cases come with soft, spongy, realistic looking makeup and the applicators are the same soft ones you would get with real makeup. The makeup brushes are real, soft bristled makeup brushes, the fingernail polish comes in an actual glass bottle with a real applicator (minus actual polish), the Tierra is actually made of metal and not cheap plastic, the little slippers are thick and sturdy heeled. Overall, this is one of the best pretend makeup sets I have found.

Purchased two of the mermaid sets. One for my 3 year old daughter, and one for her older cousin (kindergarten aged) as a gift.
They both enjoy it. I like it because it isn't real makeup, so it's fun for the three year old without the mess. Her cousin wanted real makeup but has sensitive skin, so I liked it for a compromise, I'll let her mom pick out the real stuff, but I think she still has fun pretending with this. It was better quality then I expected based on the reviews. Nothing has broken, I've had it a-little over a month. (Sometimes the foam makeups prices come out in the cases if thrown around, but it reminds me of a custom palette so you can choose where they go, if it bothers you you could glue it but big an issue for us, and rarely happens.) The three year old is rough with it, and it's been ok so far. The crown was metal, the play jewelry was better quality then I had expected. I like the variety of "makeup" and the brushes were soft. Overall I think a good set for the price! Would buy again.

Not real. Perfect for play for young kids. No mess. The eye shadow is a paper sponge. Nail polish is empty. My daughter has real makeup and now this set and she plays more with this one even though it is fake.
