Nice exterior film to allow for mounting
Chris✓ Verified Purchase•October 9, 2023
My application was to identify our condo house number on a black 4" x 4" support post outside an exterior patio. Visibility is good from 35'. Each character has a film covering the number so you can use a wooden dowel to affix the character to the mounting surface w/o damaging it. After affixing, just peel the film off.
Check how many numbers you need for BOTH sides of your mailbox!

These are kind of hard to peel off and stick on, but I read someone's review about the need to take the yellow backing off FIRST, then peeling the numbers off the clear plastic (carefully) second, and that worked like a charm (thank you, fellow amazonian!).
Anyway, I got the right number of all the numbers, but I didn't think about the fact that I had to put them on both sides of my mailbox. So I was short a "1." Go figure. Anyway, after looking at the other numbers and the "1," I figured that I could cut up a "4" to make the one "1" I needed, so that's what I did. It looks good. Unless you know it's not a real "1," you'd never guess. At least from a distance. And I put that four "1" on the opposite side from the one the mailman comes down our street, so I doubt he's even noticed. I'm still getting mail, so I guess all is well, heh.
That works with 1s, but if I had needed four "3's" instead, I'd have been in a pickle (though I would have persevered and chopped up the numbers I don't need to create one! I'm stubborn like that.).
Over all, though, these are great so far! They are not peeling off in the least, but I think the key is to take off the clear plastic, too, and not leave it on as this might be pulling on the numbers for some people (just going by the review photos people have posted of their numbers coming off, not sure if the numbers will peel over time without the extra plastic still attached). Mine have only been on for a few months and are still just like new (including retaining their reflective value) through wind, rain, sun. I'm happy with them for the price, but if you have two of the same number in your address, you may want to just get a pack with four of each number for both sides of your mailbox. I just didn't think of that. D'oh.

My husband and I use these every time we add a mailbox. It's been several time in the last few years and this is our go product. They reflect. They are pretty and they transfer nicely. Everything about it is perfect.
