Love this nail grinder! The guard is definitely for smaller dog nails. I took it off as I have a German shepherd and Rottweiler Gordon mix with very thick nails that wouldn't fit in the guard. But with removing the guard, it's powerful and glided through the nail no problem and quickly. The light is a great and helpful feature and it's quiet! Made nail trimming much easier and enjoyable for all. The only thing I wish it came with was a small brush to get the dust off when you are done (without the guard the dust ends up everywhere). Very satisfied with this item and will be throwing all my other nail grooming tools away.

This is a must to use! The cover was able to place the trimmer next to pup and he got use to the sound and then was able to introduce it to his paw slowly. It's a slow progress but the reward is worth it he is not scared of it at all and totally accepts the sound and the feel. Also a big thing is use short 1-2 seconds of time on a nail at a time. Don't hold device against nail for anything longer than 2 seconds. I tried it on myself to see the results it will heat up and not pleasant. Highly recommend but also recommend patience and make pet desensitize with product
