I recently put in a new ceiling fan in my bedroom. It came with 60w equivalent led bulbs. This was a bit dim for me so I bought these 100w equivalent led bulbs. The fan suggested using 14w or less replacement bulbs. The 100w equivalent bulbs that I found shopping around actually used 15w. These are 13w! Perfect! I put them in and the lighting is perfect. Also, no flickering. I am completely happy with them. They claim a 25,000 hour life span. If they actually last that long (many years in the future) they are above and beyond anything I would have expected.
I will ramble on a bit more about the lifespan of a light bulb in case anyone reading this is interested. The old incandescent bulbs use to last for many years. I have had some in my house that I knew were at least 10 years old and probably many years older. Such old incandescent bulbs did tend to dim over the years. Well, when I replaced those old dim incandescent bulbs with new incandescent bulbs they would burn out in just a few months! I was getting frustrated constantly replacing those bulbs. I tried many different brands, trying to find one that had a descent life expectancy. I could not. They all were popping like popcorn! Why did those old bulbs last for many years while the new ones lasted just a few months? I finally found out why!
The companies that made light bulbs all got together trying to find a solution to making more money on their bulbs. The problem was that they lasted so long that people didn't buy many. Well the companies came up with the solution to shorten the lifespan of the bulbs! They had the technology to make bulbs last for many years but to improve sells, the companies intentionally shortened the bulbs life! So, for people my age or older, now you know why you had to constantly replace your incandescent bulbs.
LED bulbs currently have a long lifespan, lasting many years. Let's hope the companies don't get together again and shorten their lifespan!
