Simple to use, to install and works well
Felix✓ Verified Purchase•August 12, 2023
This is a very simple timer that's also simple to install and to setup. After 10 years of operation, my old water softener control valve stopped functioning. I tried making some adjustments but the panel was locked by the dealer and required a password. When I contacted the installer, they wanted $150 just for troubleshooting the issue. So, instead, I ordered and installed this timer valve and that solved the issue. Don't know how long it'll last, but for now, I'm very satisfied.
Installation is very simple but if in doubt there are plenty of informative YouTube videos available. I didn't read the installation instructions, but the valve is very simple to install. Do make sure all seals and their mating parts are well lubricated and that threaded parts are cleaned.
This timer valve is a good value for the money and I recommend it.
02/14/2023: I'm updating this review because I read some other reviews about this timer valve overfilling their brime tank with water. One thing that must be taken in consideration is that this is a timer valve and, as such, it's going to run each cycle for X amount of minutes until it moves to the next cycle. As far as I know, there's no way for the valve to sense the brime tank's water level and will continue to add water until the refill cycle ends. To prevent your brime tank from being overfilled you'll need to install a float valve. The flow valve will shut down the flow of water at an adjusted level.

My opinion, best on market, extremely efficient, easy maintenance. Replaced old head after 27 years of service, 1 rebuild in that time line. Not a fan of the digital equipment out there today. Can't run them through a quick regeneration manually to diagnose.
Regen. cycle timing problem
3cells✓ Verified Purchase•May 8, 2023
The price was right, and there's a lot to be said in favor of a non electronic, manual controller. My only complaint is trying to set the backwash cycle. It's supposedly factory set for 12:00 midnight. (It's on the label on the backside of the unit) I need to regenerate at 3:30 AM, so I should be able to set the real time back 3-1/2 hours to cycle at 3.30 AM, right?
I wasted 2 evenings watching the the unit, (I probably looked like the RCA victor dog as I waited on the regen cycle) & I just couldn't understand why simple math wasn't working to set the timer. Day 3, I finally disassembled the face and examined the trip mechanism. If you look at the attached photo, you will notice the small raised arrow cast in the face, it lines up with the actuator that triggers the regen. cycle, you will also notice THIS ARROW POINTS TO 2 AM! I think it's a mistake in the orientation of the silk screening machine at the factory. I don't know if this mistake is on all units, or I'm just lucky. Regardless, if you need to backwash at a specific time, be aware this might be an issue! Most folks are fine with a non specific late night regen cycle, so that's probably why this problem has never been noticed. Or possibly, I just got the only unit with an attitude towards punctuality!
P.S. 7/4/23 Still working fine, adding a picture for the person who inquired about compatibility with a 7-8" resin tank
