Arrived bent,

I needed the strut ASAP so I didn't ask for an exchange. It would be perfect if it had not been bent.
My door was missing one strut and began to bow because of it. The door would not open anymore. I wanted to install the strut even though it was bent because I needed to be able to open and close the door ASAP. It works ok but would be more secure if it was not bent.
I didn't put one star because the item was returnable and I didn't contact the seller and it probably got damaged in shipping which is not the seller's fault. Overall its a quality piece of steel and easy to install. It would be better if the piece that connects the 2 struts would be made exactly like the struts. Instead its a smaller piece that is not as strong as the struts.
My door is 16 ft wide so the struts came in 2 pieces with a middle connecting piece.

Reinforce or repair your damaged garage door

My garage door is an 18' two car single door with 4 panels. The spring for it snapped one day and caused the door to fall and then sag in the middle where the pull bar attaches. This in turn caused the upper panel top to get bent and pulled out of square. I removed the upper bent support beam and replaced it with this after reshaping my panel back into mostly square and true. This reinforcement beam is definitely more sturdy and rigid than the stock beam that was on my garage door. It comes with self-tapping metal screws that will make their own hole for attaching but I would suggest drilling a smaller pilot hole before screwing them in just to help guide the screw and ease of screwing them in. I was able to take the bent, old support beam and cut in half, removing the damaged area and then used that as additional support at the bottoms of the previously damaged panels in the center. This has been installed for about 3 months now and I can see no evidence of warping, bending or getting damaged in any way. My garage is much quieter now without all of the popping and squealing that was taking place with the old bent and damaged support. So, if you need extra support for a heavy door or need to make repairs to a damaged door, I would definitely recommend this product. Also, I installed this all by myself but it would help tons to have an extra set of hands helping you out.

I ordered two sets of these 3-piece garage door struts. I had previously used 8' sections of angle iron to reinforce the two middle panels. That method was only a short term solution since the angle iron didn't cover the full 16' width of the door. This 3-piece set does cover the width of the door and it fixed the bowing of my garage door. The door now opens and closes smoothly and quietly like it did when it was new (it's a 19 yo door). I read some reviews about this product being damaged during shipment. Both of my items arrived undamaged. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 bc of the price. All in cost for both items was just under $300. Personally I feel like the price point for this item should be $100 or less, considering the lower cost of a single piece strut made of the same material. We're definitely paying a premium for it coming in a more manageable size. I was able to use the pre-drilled holes in the strut on the outside edges of the door. And did not need to drill any holes for other mounting points. My cordless Dewalt had no trouble sinking these self-tapping screws by using firm pressure. I did have an assistant which enabled me to place the center section on the door first and then add the 8' sections one side at a time. This method is what allowed me to align the pre-drilled holes in the edge pieces with the existing hole in the hinge bracket on the door. Overall I'm very pleased that this option fixed my garage door.
Strong braces

Nice and strong. Of course had to drill to fit it universally. Everyone's garage door will be different usually.
