Good phone for a lifestyle change

I bought this phone to live a smart phone free lifestyle and it's been mostly good. Sometimes it wont receive texts or calls but a quick restart fixes that. If you cannot have that quirk than buy a Nokia. I just liked the ruggedness compared to other phones in this price range.

I'm an unusual user. I only power up my cell phone when I want to make calls or texts, and then I turn it off. I boot up my smart phone rarely, mostly for navigation or briefly checking messenger or emails on the go. I love being disconnected/unencumbered. So for me this is a great simple phone. Because it is not android, you are able to boot up and make a call in seconds. The signal is clear, the sound is loud, the speaker phone is great. The battery lasts months for me. I use a $5/month Hello Mobile plan (uses T-Mobile) which gives me unlimited minutes, and I have had absolutely no problem. The only negatives for me are the unnecessary disco light and the heavy weight. If they could make it smaller and lighter, without such a large speaker (but keep the large battery capacity) I would buy it up.

In my hand this thing looks and feels solid, everything I was looking for as far as large fonts, strong buttons, large-rated battery capacity. The traditional tiny (nano?) SIM card works, even though the slots are made for something larger (see other user's video). And I tested it with Ting (TMobile backbone). Oh and note: It ships with a dongle to convert audio to 3.5mm -- so no need to buy that. Unless you want an extra. For me, it was too large but it's not incredibly bulky. Just consider that. Take note of the dimensions (ABOUT 6 x 14 x 2 cm on my measuring), and the weight (191gm on my diet scale). I did not keep it long enough to consider performance because I went with a smaller Nokia.

I got this phone in May and it's now August. I've had TMobile for 13 years. Got this phone to detox from social media and do us on mental health and my new baby.
The sim card is a micro sim and not a nano sim like current phones. You can buy adapters, I was fortunate that I was keep old sim adapters that used to come with my galaxy phones.
It works without hassle with T-Mobile. Put my sim on my sim-adapter and into my phone and it's plug&play. No visiting a TMobile store and no customer service calls.
I love this device and my only complaint is that headphones that use USB C actually don't work in the USBC port even with the adapter.

I ordered this phone to replace the exact model phone that accidentally fell to the ground and got stepped on by our mare, unfortunately resulting in a broken screen. After checking around to see if the screen could be replaced, we decided to just order another of the same since it was only slightly more expensive than the screen replacement. That way grandpa's got a brand new phone - and one that he actually likes!
Swapping the SIM card from the old to the new was simple, and it instantly connected to the network with no additional fuss.
He's had his original for a number of years now, and has insisted that it's much better and easier to operate than the modern smartphones because it has actual buttons. I'm a smartphone guy myself, but I see what he's getting at. ;) I fully expect similar rugged performance and durability as the original as long as we keep it out from under the farm animals' hooves! LOL
