Odd sizing

First let me say the quality of these bad boys is amazing. Merely holding this shoe in your hand at first glance they are quality. Analyze them closer, put them on, you won't be disappointed.
Normally, I wear 11.5. Over 99% of the time. So I ordered accordingly. To my dismay they sent the wrong color but I tried one on anyway. The fit was a bit snug. I imagined I'd be wearing thicker socks so when I sent them back I sized up. I also went with the wide. So 12 wide. Still there?
These things are GIGANTIC. Comical even.
9 out of 10 smugglers and thic bois alike choose WIDE.
Seriously I'd imagine a safe would have to fall on my foot for it to swell up and fit this. Perhaps a tire pump would do.
Careful what you order. Third times a charm?
My favorite all-purpose shoes

This is my third pair or Merrell's and I love them. First pair were for business and are waterproof. They lasted a solid year of hard landscaping. I opted for the non-waterproof version the second year as they are a little lighter and more breathable. I bought the recent pair as my non-work shoe for daily wear. I won't wear any other type of sneaker. I used to sell these to special tactics units years ago as I worked part time for a tactical equipment shop and the operators loved them, so that's what turned me onto getting a few pairs myself. The Vibram soles will outlast any shoe I've ever worn.
Merrell Quality Seems to be Back

For probably 15 years or more, I wore Merrell Moab Ventilators as my go-to everyday casual shoe. Wearing them as often as I do, I wore the soles down pretty fast, so I was getting a new pair almost every year. Then, when Merrell switched over to the Moab 2, something was different. They didn't fit well, didn't provide the same support, etc. They looked the same, but it felt like Merrell had "cheapened" them or something. So I decided to try Oboz Sawtooths instead. I was immediately impressed by the fit, the support, the look and the overall quality feel - far superior to the Merrell Moab 2. Then, the very next year, Oboz changed the design of the Sawtooth to the Sawtooth 2, and I was not impressed. The Sawtooth 2 fit well, but they took away a lot of the toe ventilation that was a big reason I chose them, and the Sawtooth 2's just kind of looked dorky. So when it was time for my annual new pair of shoes, I noticed that Merrell had redesigned the Moab 2 to the Moab 3, and they were getting good reviews. Combine that with finding a pair on sale for almost 50% off, and I decided to give Merrell another chance. So far, I am impressed. They look and feel like my Merrell Moab Ventilators of old, and they even have an improved, more aggressive Vibram sole. So kudos to Merrell - they appear to have listened to negative customer reviews about the Moab 2 and put the familiar quality back into the Moab 3's.
Had these before, great shoes so I bought them again.

These shoes start out feeling like they are broken in and are very comfortable right out of the box. I love the Vibrum sole on the shoes. My last pair lasted over 5 years. The sole is still good, it was the leather that started separating from the sole by the toes. The Vibrum sole was still in good shape. I probably have over 1500 miles on my old shoes. I still use them for yardwork now.
Because of the lasting quality and how comfortable the old ones were, I bought these new ones. The only difference I can tell in the new from the old, is the tread pattern and color are different. The new sole maybe....a little stiffer. But they are also new and only about 10 miles of walking in them so far. I think they will flex a little easier with another 10 miles on them. That said, they are wonderful now as they are. I highly recommend them.
Comfortable out of the box

I had a hiking trip coming up in Olympic and Rainier National Parks, and my old hiking boots were always too narrow for me and I needed something more comfortable. After exhaustively reading reviews about different hiking boots, I went for these Moabs. The second I tried them on, they were comfortable. I tried to break them in before the trip and on day 1 I realized that wasn't necessary, this is like the Nike sneaker of hiking shoes, just astonishingly comfortable. On my trip, I hiked muddy trails, scree, paved trails, roads, uneven rocky ground, everything, and they held up well and not even a hint of a blister. My legs were wrecked by the end of the week from clambering up mountains, but my feet were completely fine. To say I'm impressed with these boots is an understatement.

One thing on fit - I did the "try before you buy" thing on Amazon and ordered this pair, a wide pair in the same size, and Moab version 2. The regular pair has a relatively wide tow box already, part of why they are so comfortable, so the actual "˜wide' pair were VERY wide on me. Version 2 and Version 3 of this shoe are very similar but I found version 3 to have a slightly more comfortable sole, and a better tread pattern. I found the fit was basically identical.
