Works like they said in the instructions. I would recommend putting in marbles in the "weight tray" for sturdier bean sprouts. For micro greens it does not matter. edited 6/11 some seeds for salad micro greens are way too small to sprout as they fall right right through the trays. Like 95% of them, but all been seeds should be fine.
