I was looking for an alternative to the cheap metal floating fish baskets that always end up rusted.

Mine did not come with the zipper storage bag shown by another user but it's not in the item description so I guess I can't complain. Instead of came in a clear plastic pouch that isn't meant for storage and doesn't allow for quick drying. I opted for a large mesh laundry pouch with a zipper instead. I also didn't need a the long rope to tie it up to the dock so I replaced it with a shorter one.

The basket itself is very well made. Most of it is coated rubberized mesh like you would find on a quality net. I expect it would hold up well to turtles or toothy fish trying to get in. There is about 3" of bare nylon mesh at the top to make it flexible enough to close. You will have to be careful with hooks with this material so make sure you dehook the fish before you put them in the basket. There is not bottom hole to pop open and let the fish escape when you throw it back in the water.

The hoops are flexible tubing so they will not get bent or rust. The mesh is held to the hoops by a knotted string that runs around them. It looks easy to replace should it break. The edges of the mesh are stitched. I don't think I would lift it by the rope if it had a lot of fish in it but that's true of the metal ones as well.

The floats are hard plastic held on by zip ties but they do keep it floating even in the wind. If they start leaking they're easy to replace.

The one thing I would change is the short rope with the orange bead that serves as a draw string. The end is knotted and the rope is too stiff to hold a tight knot. I opted to add a metal clip from the hardware store to join the ends and covered it with heat shrink so it wouldn't slide through.

Is it spendy compared to the metal ones? Yes it is, but in this case I feel like it was worth the investment. It rocks. Buy one.

Made in China! Yes its made in china! What yaw think im goin to say bad things about it? Lol nope none at all. Not all product from there is garbage as in the picture it can fit and hold up my 50 pound boy lol i shook and spun him around in it and held up nicely didnt even stretch it. Really heavy duty and love how compact and how light it is also. Wash and Dry quickly too. Bag too even better! Not no thin peeling s**** that usualy get from other maker from china. Who ever made this knows what they are doing. I doubt it float 50lb of fish inside but ill do and update on that. I have had 6 trophy size trout in it before and it still floats. Price wise alil pricey mabe would get more for family and friends its around $20. In all its perfect for my needs. Oh and no its not child abuse my son wanted to play in it and thats when i thought itll be a perfect reveiw for this product. No he cant sufficate in it look how much holes in there also im constantly watching him while hes playing with it.

Sunk it to the bottom of the dock. Kept minnows alive all week.
