David Bowie style a phone
Kelly Lynn Hegg Crosby✓ Verified Purchase•October 21, 2023
First of all, my husband loves David Bowie and his music. When he showed me this little Stylo phone I thought it was really really cool. This was a birthday present and he absolutely loves it. He wouldn't mind setting a little bigger so he could play it and we love to see a bigger version of this. It's a collectible for sure but what a joy kind of hard at first for me to understand how to play it but once you play it, it's a lot of fun I would like to see more sounds in there like David Bowie but over all what a fun and fabulous and unique gift to get somebody Kudos and thumbs up
A blast from the past.

I am a former Professional Recording Engineer and Sound Mixer. Back in the 1970's I did some freelance mixing and Roadie work on a brief European Tour with David Bowie. I was just one of several Engineers hired at the time . We didn't really spend much time with him, Set up and tear down were done without any of the band around, we would interact during some rehearsals and then the performances. During my time I had no direct interaction, he pretty much kept to himself except for some close associates he had. I remember seeing Bowie playing this odd little machine from time to time. Not in any performances we worked on at the time but off stage. I was always curious as to what it was. After my stint, I returned to the US and learned in was a StyloPhone. I wanted to get one but at the time they were no where to be found in the US. I was really bummed (70's expression,LOL)
Fast forward 46 years later I discover that I can finally get one but not just a Stylophone but a Limited Edition David Bowie one.
This just completed a previous journey in my life. It is now a part of my current Music Studio Workstation. I love it!

I had never heard of a stylophone before seeing it in my recommendations list after purchasing a new kalimba. But of course I had to buy this one; it's a limited edition David Bowie mini instrument! After playing around with it, however, I discovered how much I enjoy making music with it. You can learn simple tunes on it without too much difficulty, but becoming a pro at it does take some practice, but it's fun to practice and learn your favorite songs. The stylophone also comes with a booklet detailing Bowie's history with the stylophone, which is great for a Bowie fan like me. This is a must-buy for Bowie fans, and an easy recommendation for music lovers who want to learn a surprisingly complex but enjoyable instrument!
Putting away the stylus is not fun.

I got what I expected: an inexpensive piece of synthesizer history. What I didn't expect is how difficult it would be to perfectly wrap the cable under the stylus. Getting the stylus to sit perfectly flat isn't practically achievable. They could have made the slot just a little deeper to prevent this from being an issue.
Is it a toy is it a musical instrument?

I got this for a friend who is really into David Bowie. He also happens to make music under 50 bucks great Christmas present it's kind of a toy but you can hook it up and use it like a real instrument you can plug it into your sound system and go if you have the right hook up you can do all kinds of stuff with this Wonder my friend loved it perfect gift. A note on the case that you can buy separately don't bother the box is so cool you'd want to keep it in the box as a novelty toy unless you went on the road with this which I highly doubt the box is excellent it comes with a little booklet of David Bowie and his whole little interaction with this toy I mean musical instrument. Definitely want to keep it in the box I bought a case and I sent it back as soon as I seen the box so save yourself the problem and don't buy a case just leave it in the box.
