Just what I needed

I purchased this for my AT2040 connected to my Scarlett 2i2. It cut my gain in half and reduced the floor nice to a minimum. This is a beast of an alternative to the cloud lifter. The only con is you have to connect it to the back of a mic or have two xlr cables. It will not plug into your interface/mixer. It's made for Shure SM7B so that would make sense. But other than that it's perfect"¦.for me.
Solid - no frills, just function

(I bought both the MB-1 and the MB-Stealth. The core of this review will be the same for both)
I was looking to make an SM-48S hotter. I tripped over this, and - went for it.
This isn't reaaallly meant for stage use, check the MB-1 (same company) if that's your goal.
This plugs in inline straight into the bottom of the mic (or at the mixer end!) if you'd like. This *DOES* use phantom power, so if your mixer/preamp doesn't provide that, you'll have an issue. When unpowered, it's a straight pass-through.
*for me* this is prefect. It's on a mic used for handpan and gong. I don't need shimmering high ends, I *do* need the bottom end not rolled off.
Very nice implementation, truly plug & play. I figure that the electronics are the same in the MB-1, I didn't open them to check, as I'm returning the MB-1. I only need one, and I'll be keeping this one.
Highly recommended. It does what it sets out to, and at this price point, you probably need more than one, just to have around. :)

When i purchased 2 of these i was very suspicious of how clean of a gain i would get but i have been pleasantly surprised with no noise or hiss until the very top of maxing it out which it cant be faulted for at that point. I am running it using a rode podcaster pro mixer with presonus pd-70 mics but did find it to have a cleaner effect at the top with rode podmics i also have. Both running at 13 gain with sliders mid way and i have no issues and preforming well i might get 2 more!
Perfect for Podcasting!

Perfect for podcasting! This is the best inline preamp I've tried. The 28dB gain is exactly what my Rode Podmic needed and the matte black finish is super sleek. It blends right in with my setup and keeps me from having to crank the volume and introduce noise. Keep in mind that you should still use a high quality XLR cable because that makes a big difference too.
Almost 2 years old and still kickin!

I've had mine for almost 2 years and it's still working great. Use it with a PodMic everyday for work.
I don't have any experience with similar products from other companies, but this is legit and hasn't let me down so far.
