Key features

  • EASY & COMPACT STORAGE - Our foldable Japanese Pull Saw can be easily stored in your bag or drawer, while conventional Japanese saws are large, unhandy and take up a lot of space.
  • JAPANESE TRADITION MWWTS GERMAN PRECISION - Our Kataba Zen Japanese saw combines the virtues of German craftsmanship and ancient Japanese forging tradition. This is how the rustic hand saw became a sophisticated high-tech tool.
  • MASTERFULLY PRECISE CUTS ON ALL TYPES OF WOOD - The extra sharp trapezoidal toothing of our SK4 carbon steel saw blade ensures extremely fine, clean woodworking with minimal effort.
  • ERGONOMIC RUBBER HANDEL FOR IDEAL GRIP - Since the hand saw saws on pulling, we put special effort in to the development of our extra light Super-Grip Rubber handle.
  • JAPANESE VS: EUROPEAN STYLE- What most people are used to are European saws, which cut materials via pushing - on the other hand, Japanese hand saws cut materials via pulling, which requires less power and the cutting edge is much cleaner.

Does not list TPI

Knowing the TPI would have made the order more simple. Did not meet expectations only due to TPI. Needed for pruning to replace my old Duzuki no longer made.
Design perfect, execution rough due to tooth placement and number. This was the saw I would have preferred for it's design and grip couldn't be better, fold lined up well to protect the blade. It really is a beauty if you need to do more rough cutting.
Outstanding Portable Saw for a tool bag

This saw is lightweight, easy to open and becomes a solid useful saw to carry in a tool bag. The blade is sharp and it opens to become a nice sized saw. And the handle is quite comfortable and easy to grip.
tooth less?

I am a woodworker by trade, and I like everything about the saw BUT it's not very sharp. I find this disappointing and frustrating
Nice and handy

I was replacing an old similar. Works great, love the plastic holder for stow away. I notice, however, the saw blades are much smaller (less depth) than my old saw so you cannot cut as easily or on heavier items.
Storable pull saw

Two features of this saw work very well together:
First, set-up and put-away are quick and very easy. To begin using this saw just pull the flexible steel blade away from the handle and rotate it into one of 3 locking positions. There is an orange colored thumb release on the handle to allow the blade to be released to change position or stow the blade back in the handle.
Second, when stored the teeth are protected in the handle. Set-up and stowage take just a couple seconds! Most of the pull saws take a minute or more to set or stow. Then either you have to keep track of blade covers or store so the teeth don't get damaged. Not so with this handy saw. I will probably just fold the blade safely away and keep it in my portable toolbox.
The saw cuts a kerf about 1/16" wide. This is nearly twice as wide as the other Japanese pull saw I own. Although the teeth are closely spaced like a cross cut saw, for small projects it seemed to work fine as a rip saw.
The tool is easy to use either with one or two hands. Set-up and stowage can also be easily accomplished with one hand. I like its convenience! There's even a hole near the end of the handle to hang it up when not in use.
