This is a fun toy that combines a baseball with arcade/fair style electronic games via a Bluetooth connection to a smart phone, but should not be confused with something that would be useful for actual baseball training. It's more of a baseball themed toy as opposed to a training tool. The games are fun, but after playing them a few times, lose their novelty. Given that it's more of a novelty that wears off, it would be great if the price was lower. This item currently sells for around $80 with the available coupon, which is a bit high for what this is in my opinion. If this sold for closer to $50 I'd be more inclined to give it a more enthusiastic endorsement.

The idea behind this backyard league baseball sounds pretty cool. You get a baseball that has bluetooth tracking and with the use of a free app, you track your progress, receive scores and encouragement, and can compete against your friends or against anyone around the world. The baseball is official size and weight (I weighed and measured then compared it to a real baseball), but it has an opening to insert a battery-operated tracker. The battery is included. It's important to note that the baseball is not meant for batting.
There aren't a lot of instructions included with the package, but more instructions come when you download the app (App store or Google Play).
My star rating at this time is based on the premise of the game and the quality of the baseball itself. A more thorough review will come after Christmas when my ball player gets his hands on this baseball game :) I'm eager to try it out!

Honestly I never write reviews, but this thing is awesome. My son, who's 7, is constantly on the move. He got this as a Xmas gift and has been nonstop playing with it. The names the app gives you are hilarious and he loves competing against others.

I ordered this for my son. He just started playing baseball in the fall. He and I are both so excited about this product. It makes practicing so much fun. The ability to track progress is so great. And the fact that you can score points like in a video game is such a cool concept. He is practicing so much more than he did before we got this. And I feel like he will be so much more prepared for practices and games in the spring. I love that this product come with everything you need, including the battery. I also like that the primary component can is inserted in and can be removed from the ball. Very convenient in case you need to buy a replacement ball. My only concern is how easy it is to lose baseballs when practicing. With the cost, I hope in the future they can figure out a way to make this transferable to a regular baseball or provide multiples at this price so that losing it isn't such a worry. However, I will say I believe the improvement my son has shown makes this product worth every penny. I have already recommended this product to many people I know . with kids who play baseball and even softball. If you're considering this, definitely go for it!!!

This is a great way to motivate kids to practice fielding.
My son just wanted to hit, but the games on this app made him want to play catch. I have seen a marked improvement in his fielding since playing with this before the baseball season.

Great feel. Size, weight and feel of a regular baseball.
Games are designed to improve fielding skills.
Cons :
A bit pricey.
At times ball can "˜glitch out' and not record throws, catches, etc. But works fine after turning off and on and re-connecting.
Should be more games. No games to practice ground ball skills.
