I bought this for my 9-year-old grandson's birthday who is in his third year playing baseball. It was an instant neighborhood hit! The batteries (which were a cheap brand) were still going strong after an hour. We did put the machine on a projector tripod so that it would be high enough. The pitches were a consistent speed and path. So far we think this was well worth the money and it's just what I wanted for him! I definitely recommend it for kids 5-12 years old!
More Versatile Upgrade

The media could not be loaded. I was really blown away by the upgraded model. I have the previous one, which still works fantastic just in a different aspect. The previous model excelled at pop flies while moving side to side and pop ups for batting.
This model has a lot more versatility, multiple angles and speed. Instead of pop ups it can launch it directly to the batter more in the strike zone, it can do grounders and pop ups. It is definitely a lot more powerful than the previous model.
It was extremely easy to assemble and although you can plug it in or use batteries, I used a portable power bank. They have plenty of lightweight ones that will save you a lot of headache and make this super portable.
It is lightweight, well-constructed and performs extremely well, but please note, and this is extremely important, you must use Furlihong brand dimpled baseballs. I've tried it with other dimpled baseballs and it did not work; stick to the brand that made the machine and you won't have any issues.
Very impressed with the upgraded model, the previous model is still stellar and useful though. They both serve different purposes. I would almost say the older model is better for younger kids and this one for older, although my son is 6 and enjoys both. Highly recommend.
