I purchased this as a first-time user. I had never needle felted before and wanted to add some designs to my felted soaps I make. After much searching, I picked this product. It took a little bit to get the hang off, but it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. The needles are pretty sturdy if you use them correctly, but if you don't, they will break off. And they HURT if you hit your fingers! It does come with finger guards, but I don't like them, they get in my way, but it is nice that they add them. This pack comes with several handles, and LOTS of needles, which is great. I have been using it for months now, and still don't need any replacements. Great pick for a new user to see if they want to take up this hobby. I am sure there are "better" handles, and needles, etc" out there, but this works fine for me and my needs. Good value for my money!

Much to my husband's chagrin, I have another new hobby: needle felting. This is a great set for a beginner. I researched the options on amazing really carefully. I wanted a case for everything and a variety of needle sizes. The leather (leather-like?) finger protectors are a must. Trust me. It hurts like h3// when you stab yourself with these needles. I mean, WOW!
The only thing I wasn't totally taken with is the little pad you're supposed to do the stabbing on. I have this five stars because it arrived as described. I would have appreciated a thicker pad, but that's not what was promised. So, the company delivered on what was described.
I highly recommend this kit for beginners. Especially beginners like me, good intentions but a little fickle with new things due to limited time and general tendencies toward distraction. This kit has everything you need to get started and it's a good value. You won't feel like you're throwing away money if you use it once in a while instead of often!

Whenever I buy anything on Amazon I'm concerned it won't live up to the reviews or will be some cheap knock off. This set is really nice! The wood pieces are solid but lightweight and well milled. The finger protectors felt a bit snug at first, but they fit nicely and are easy to use. The needles are definitely sharp and now that my kit has arrived I can't wait to try everything out! I am pleasantly surprised by the quality.
