I am new to drop spindle spinning and initially purchased a spindle recommended for beginners. It didn't have the notch in it and I had trouble controlling the spindle. I purchased this spindle and can't believe the difference in control. I was worried that the longer neck would be more difficult to control, but I absolutely love it! Add in the slightly angled hook and the notch and the difference is dramatic!
