The main thing I also like most about this is that: most dish washers need to be cleaned out regularly with a combination of vinegar and baking soda to remove the sulfate/byproduct of dishwasher detergent from the pipes. I bought this as more of a preventative measure than a cure. The d.w. is only a couple years old. I did notice when I open the door that it had developed an odor. I always leave the door open when the cycle is complete to allow the interior to dry. After the cleaning, the odor was gone. I definitely recommend to start using this early in the dishwasher's life. I tried a descaler on a very old dishwasher several years ago. It did a good job, but the dishwasher was never the same again. I believe that the pump was worn and removing the scale made it lose pressure.
