This glass mixer bowl has a few advantages over the standard stainless steel version that comes with the mixer. You can see what's inside better as light can come through the sides, the handle makes it easier to manipulate and the notch on the rim makes it easier to pour batter. As another reviewer mentioned mine had a grey film on the glass as received. I'm assuming it was mold release agent that was not cleaned off. This is the main reason I gave the product 4 stars instead of 5. While relatively easy to clean off, there is no reason to shipped an expensive item like this without proper cleaning first. Also, the bowl appears to be made with regular glass instead of borosilicate which is stronger and handles temperature changes much better. Good product but could be improved with better cleaning and glass.

Works just as good as the $90 version. Does not leak. Does not shatter when dropped. It's a beautiful shiny metal and is sized adequately for the kitchen aid mixer. Clean with soap at water or however you like.
