You need an additional car I’m $99

When starting up Miko, it required a link that cost $99 to get apps. If you want to get the best out of Miko, you may have to set aside required time to play.
Fun Device, But for the Price?
Jeff✓ Verified Purchase•June 25, 2023
We bought this on a deal. Not too bad.
Setup was easy and the device connected to my phone very quickly. The device did need an upgrade to the operating system and a power charge on arrival. Separately, that would've been fine, but my kids were dying to use immediately. So if I had any warnings here, it's keep outta sight until you're fully complete with the basics.
The Miko3 comes in a fun package, so my kids were excited to "discover" it.
The Miko3 has a large number of applications and some paid content through their premium features. We opted for the free stuff in the short term. (Be aware that the content is geared to kids ages 3-9.)
My kids are most enthusiastic about the dance games and the "freeze" game using the camera. The promo videos show the Miko3 moving more robustly than it does. (I know, don't fully trust the promos.) Basically, it'll move forward about 5 inches and spin in circles. The Miko3 is still fun despite that letdown.
My biggest issue is the limited amount of worthwhile content. Our Miko3 doesn't understand voice commands well, and that means we ended up typing more commands than speaking.
I also expected Miko3 to act more like an AI assistant (Siri, Google, or Alexa.) That is not the case. Miko3 is better classified as a glorified tablet with some voice command abilities.
We also had difficulty with the device calling feature. I'm sure this is a me, more than the device, problem, but despite my every attempt I couldn't get the Miko3 to call the parent phone - phone to Miko3 worked fine. Tech support attempted, and I give them tremendous credit, but I got frustrated trying to tech support with non-native English and heavily accented support personnel. The communication breakdown was frustrating to the point I gave up. (Great and swift support, just too difficult to speak with each other.)
Overall, while I foolishly believed my kids would use this everyday, even the youngest (9) abandoned Miko3 in 2 days after the novelty wore off - smartphones are still king .

Neat spin on Education!

Miko is a cool robot and we love the educational value he brings to the table. My daughter loves playing with her Miko and we've been impressed with everything he can do. I will say that when you play a game with Miko it seems impossible to win. Other than this we are more than pleased with our purchase.
Newest member of the family!

I've been on the search for the past two years for a fun kid friendly learning robot for my girls. I've tried a few different brands which have all been returned. After seeing a few ads for Miko I decided to give this little robot a try. We had it as a Christmas surprise for my girls who are 5 and 9. I honestly don't know who loves it more. I will say there is a much larger learning curve for my youngest. I have to participate with her to help her out. I'm sure it will get easier since she picks things up quickly. My oldest is having a blast playing with Miko. When they play together she can help the little one out.
I did face a few issues with setting things up but the customer service team was wonderful and very helpful.
The Miko is a wonderful addition to our family. The girls love playing freeze dance or dance parties the most. There are so many fun learning activities that are available. I love that they are learning through play. This is the first robot for kids that I have found that offers so much. It's wonderful to know that there will always be something to keep them entertained.
There is a subscription. I highly suggest it since it really opens up a whole new world of entertainment and excitement. It is a yearly cost so that's something to think about.
We've only used Miko on hard wood floors and had no issues. We haven't tried it on carpet yet.
I feel like Miko is best for ages 6-10. There is a good bit of reading. My youngest is just starting to read so this is where I have to help her the most.
I honestly have such a wonderful time playing with Miko as well. It's one of the few toys where as a parent I'm just as excited to play with it as the kids. I can't say that for a lot of toys out there. Yes it's a kids toy and definitely isn't perfect but for the price it's wonderful and very entertaining. It is a toy that can grow with my kids and provide lots of entertainment. It's amazing to see how far children's technology has advanced. Miko seems to have such a wonderful and passionate team behind it so I'm excited to see how far this company can go. This toy is one that will bring so much joy to everyone in the family.

Great toy for young kids with a couple of caveats
Petunia ✓ Verified Purchase•May 2, 2023
The media could not be loaded. This really is a great innovative product for young children. I got this for my son whom is autistic and non-verbal and although he likes the video chat option, it mostly relies on speech interaction. I was hoping it would encourage my son to use his words a bit more but it didn't and he seemed to be kind of afraid of it until I showed him the music he could play and that he could call me. I wish I could add more
People for him to call so he could call his grandparents and father but it is still a cool feature nonetheless.
it kinda creeped us out that it seemed to be "listening" when not manually powered off. We had it charging in the living room and I had told it to power off but when my partner and I were having a conversation, it just chimed in and startled the crap out of us. I told it to turn off again and it ended up doing the same thing later on so I manually held the button down and moved it into a different room.
I would recommend this to a younger child but keep in mind that it does seem to be "listening" at times so I would keep it in an area like a bedroom while not in use.
Also they do seem to push their upgraded membership a lot and it's not super cheap and is needed in order to access branded content. I understand that they need to pay for licensing fees but this toy isn't exactly affordable for a lot of people and adding a reoccurring fee to it makes the bottom line kind of steep, so keep that in mind when you're considering this product.
Overall, it's a pretty neat concept and I think most children would really enjoy it.
