Edit: Still going strong. No issues. I have no idea what the negative reviewers are experiencing, but it almost is assuredly user error of some sort with network, gear, or user control. This thing prints from Wi-Fi flawlessly in a basement setting from 6 feet away in my case, and it prints fairly fast without issue.

Inkjets are expensive if you use a lot of ink. This is not a laser printer, and you should not expect to be doing loads of printing for anything on it.

For printing photos, it actually has very decent quality, yet this one will use ink at a fast rate like most inkjets. I use this for shipping labels and occasional documents. Almost no photo printing at all. For those who print only sporadically, it's a perfect option.

Compared to my last Canon, this one is more compact, easy to setup, Wi-Fi works flawlessly, and setup was basically one and done. I don't understand the issues people are having, but it most likely comes down to your network and lack of expertise.

I manually posted my password on first boot, and even though I mostly have Wi-Fi disabled, when I turn it on with the printer, it works and prints without issue; no need to input password again or waste time finding a device. I never had even the slightest issue after password input.

It's definitely not super high quality, but it also doesn't have a bunch of stuff I don't need. I like the lack of glossy plastic as well. This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well. We'll see how long the power supply lasts.

Scanning works well, though, you will notice it is a little louder than some models. Printing has so far gone as well as before with a more expensive inkjet that died, and this doesn't seem to use ridiculous amounts of ink when on the lowest ink usage settings. Still, the unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot. I always recommend a laser printer for people printing over 20 documents a month. No exceptions. Otherwise, you will be paying out the wazoo for ink on this thing, despite only having two cartridges.

Overall, Canon has done about all they can do for a compact inkjet. There isn't much else to do for printers. You won't be getting any major improvements over the years. This is about as small and efficient as it's going to get, and even at that I barely notice the differences from ten years ago. Software is minimal and not invasive if all you want is drivers. I put the services in Win 10 on manual, and there isn't anything else going on outside a scanner tool for my setup. With my needs this is a nice model so far. I hope it lasts.
It's just as easy to setup as any other wireless printer

Ignore the bad reviews about how hard it is to setup to print. Power it on, select english then it asks you to download an app, you don't need to do that, just hit finish and cancel out of setup. Then go to settings/printer settings/LAN settings in the menu screen, find your network, connect to it. Then load the print driver from the Canon website on your PC and that's it. No harder than any other printer I've ever seen.
Canon has the best customer tech service.

I bought this in October for my business, and then was able to get my monochrome laser printer to work again after all, but decided to keep it, because nice to have the scanner and color print option. I unpacked it today- yes, it is after return date. And cannot even plug it in to set up. Editing to add:
I kept trying, got it to work, ink installed and ran a test page. The machine pulled all the paper through instead of one sheet. Called Canon. Extremely helpful tech support, knew exactly what to do, and figured out why it happened. So upped the stars. Only leaving one off because the instructions are not clear about the moving plug port, and that the paper tray should stick out about an inch after putting paper in it. Hope that helps someone else. The man also walked me through wifi setup, and probably saved me more headaches because even though I usually figure it out, it was much faster with the help. (Thanks Tristan with Canon support)
Does the job.

Likes: Very good printing. Clean. Responds to just making copies, black or color. Responds to computer print commands, black, color, pages to print, orientation. Other commands. Not a lot of higher cost options, there are added steps, for black, color, but that's not a challenge. Like a vehicle, with less options, so, use an extra step, push an extra button.
Plain paper, photo paper. Scans good; follows the computer commands. Copies good. No top feeder, but if one does an amount of copying, then get the top feeder for the TS 6420a.
Not much in dislikes. But one: Cartridge cost.
Two XL's, 260 and 261, That's almost half the printer cost. A few months of normal printing, another round of cartridges; hence, the cost of the printer itself. A decision: How much printing one does. Individual choice, this printer or another, with three to four color carts, then the two blacks. Note: the amount of ink in the 260 black, standard or XL, is equal to or less than a black standard or XL cart for another printer that has multiple color carts, and two black carts. In the 261 tri-color cart: 3 spaces, three colors. Likely one third the ink, standard or XL, compared to separate color carts, standard or XL, of other printers. Cost: 260 standard or XL black, more than double cost of another black standard or XL for another printer (note: this one 260 black does double duty, compared to two separate black carts of other printer). Cost: 261 standard or XL tri-color, almost triple the cost compared to separate color standard or XL carts on another printer. The others: Replace only that color. The 261 standard or XL: One color empties first, the whole cart could be useless. Compares to pharmaceutical companies, their brand name drugs. Exorbitant prices. Generics? Cost so much less. Affordable. Every printer maker: The cost of their brand carts is sky high. Generic carts? Ink quality? For printing, photos? It's a real guessing dilemma. Will it hurt the printer? Void the warranty? The bottom line: Every printer maker makes a fortune on the OEM carts; they know it. Huge after printer sales brand name ink cart profits. Free market, of course. No govt interference. But there is, for drug costs, rightly so. Back to the beginning: It's a very good printer. Canon Tech support: A-1. No long lines waiting for assistance; answer in a minute. Knowledgeable people, they know their product. Like Apple tech support. No word gimmickry, no "˜awesome', no "˜perfect', none of the "I can definitely help". They hear something once, they got it. No annoying parroting repetitions of a question. The way it was, in more competent times.

Thank you AMAZON for the easy return of the black copier orginally sent me.
I had always had an HP. Always black. And always pouring out BIG BUCKS for ink.

Thank you Canon. So far fanstatic!

It took a few hours to get my computer and the printer to chat with each other. I spent 4 plus hours attempting and failed. I always thought I knew how to do theses things in my sleep. I followed the instructions and was left going in circles. Even with the support teams help.
It drove to beg a friend for his help. God provided an angel. I can now laugh because I was grateful that it took him down the same rabbit hole. ( This made me feel less mentally challanged.) Explaining to him, My misadventures helped him solve the connetion issues in 2-/2 hours later. I DO NOT BLAME the CANON PRINTER. I BELIEVE IT IS MY COMPUTER'S PROGRAMMING SYSTEM THAT DELAYED THE SETUP! I have a 5 to 6 year old computer. AKA: a DINOSAUR in computer years. I also operate on Window 10, This means I will be buying a new computer soon.

FUNCTION and FORM: I love how easy it prints. 2- sided documents are now a breeze. Photos come out beautiful.

The off white 2- tone is clean looking. Finally a device that is not in black. Thank you!

My ink useage is low when I compare it to the old HP. It lets me know how much and what my levels are for each color. THER ARE NO demands to signup for ink program to operate a copier. Canon did it right. They kept the needs of the customer in mind. Also their Replacement ink prices are low.

It has a very minor quark to get use to: Easy to turn off and on: Simply hold the button in. ( Located on front the right side of the printer you will see the retangle box. Just benneath the retanglether is a buttons blends in with in top the paper tray. However, to restart all printing functions on you MUST press the OK button 3- 4 times to move it to restart the printing mode. Once done it is ready to go. )

LOVE THE WIRERLESS CONNECTION: For easy access to files, envelopes, etc. I have my printer sitting 25 ft from my desktop. It communicates wonderfully.

Loved the price. Love the quality. Love the value. and I Love the performance.
