Heavy but a great edger!

I ordered this edger after doing some research. When it arrived, I put it together and put it to use. It broke on the first use! I was bummed out. Called the company and they said they'd send a replacement part.. not sure which part they were thinking I would need since the whole thing rattled loose and pieces were flying off (I think it was missing quite a few screws?). The new piece arrived, didn't fix the problem so I returned it.
The husband urged me not to buy the same brand again since we got a POS the first time. But I like to do my research and everything I read said to go with GreenWorks! So I gave it another try, buying the exact same model as the first time. And I'm so glad I did!
It's easy to put together. It's a little heavy - may be difficult for someone a little older to use. But it works like a dream! Cuts through thick grass easily (I had previously used my sister's edger which is a different brand and 20v - it was much harder to cut through this edges.) Motor is quiet too, which is an added bonus!

Works well but there is a learning curve

This battery powered edger is a huge improvement over my electric one that required draging around a power cord. I initially struggled a bit to get a nice clean cut, but after getting the hang of it, I've decided it is a keeper. This smaller 40v battery is much lighter than the 60v in my Greenworks mower (which is a good thing) but it does mean the batteries are not interchangable between tools. I have never come close to using all the battery charge so I can't speak to how long it would last for trimming up a very large yard.
Works well, needs careful use

works well, caution is needed, of course for safety. But also because the blade is such soft metal, if you rub the concrete with it, it will be gone very quickly. even if you don't rub the curb, 2 uses and the edge of the rectangular blade is already rounded off from clearing the dirt out after 3 years of overgrowth.. then a standard edging a week later...
Remove the Rubber Grommet at the End of the Lower Tube When Assembling
DP Texas✓ Verified Purchase•July 6, 2023
The instructions are terrible. There is a grommet that should be on the end of the lower tube when you open the box. This isn't written anywhere, and I only took the advice of another review on here to remove it -- but you have to, it won't go together with it there. I tried chatting with Amazon, they offered a refund. I tried chatting with Greenworks, their online automated system did not recognize the model number (which is the same as on their website) and could not go farther. I held and held on the phone but could not get someone with Greenworks to speak to me. So I searched, found the review stating remove the grommet and it went together as you would expect.
I tested it after assembly. It feels powerful, it's heavier than I expected and after a short trip around the driveway the blade definitely shows wear. Expect to go through blades and keep spares on hand.
That's it for unpacking, assembling and one quick run. Might have a change of heart after I use it again.
