Works as both home alarm and mailbox notification device.

I was not very bright and always thought that the red flag on mailboxes were for "You got mail!". I called the post office and he explained my mistake. He told me that I can find mechanical devices that are yellow. That pop up when the door is opened. They ran from 18-30+ dollars.

They also sell dedicated electronic devices that notify you when the box has been opened. those ran from 35-60+ dollars. Some had 600 foot ranges. I am on a very tight budget. I am always looking for ways that I can adapt that do the same job at a cheaper price.

I came across this system. It was WiFi, came with an app, and was $22 after the discount. I couldn't get the app to discover the Gateway. But it was there after it said that it failed. It worked, sort of. The Gateway would constantly go into SOS mode(triggered). Now I know that it says that it's for 2.4g and I have only 5g for now. So I thought that might be the issue. I called Spectrum and they set my router to 2.4g for 1 hour(max time). There was no change. So 5g was not the problem.

Also, I could not get Alexa to discover it. Again phoned Spectrum to set my network to 2.4g. No luck, I kept getting the same message. That Alexa could not complete my request at this time. I then noticed that Bing set itself as the default browser. And the connection to Alexa was going through Bing. I then changed my default browser to Chrome and Bingo. Everything connected flawlessly except for the constant SOS alarms. 100s of them.

So I took a chance that I get a defective Gateway. The replacement came today. Bingo, no false alarms. Then came the last hurdle. I don't know if it's in the instructions or not. But the device was not triggering when the door was opened. No matter how hard that I tried. I wondered if perhaps the metal box caused interference with the magnetic field. Nope, it has to be placed on a particular side. Once I turned it upside down it works perfectly. Couldn't be happier. No more walking in the rain to find no mail.

To sum up. It will work with 5g. Use Chrome as your default browser. And make sure that the correct side is facing the magnet. This is how it worked for me. If I have issues in the future I will update my review. But it's a basic system. So I don't expect any issues going forward.
Good System--But Buyer Beware

We've had this system set up for a few days now and it's worked perfectly--however tonight there was a sudden surge of random electricity on one of the sensors and we saw a spark before the sensor fell off of the door. I don't know what happened, but just be warned!
Actually does work

I hope everyone is taking the time to read the reviews, simply because they're hilarious and clearly staged. "I rEceNTly pUrChAsEd tHe GRISCO 5pc sYstEm aCcoMpAnIeD bY tHE WiFi gAtEwAy aNd WaS bLoWn aWaY bY iTs pErFeCtIon aNd CoSt eFfecTivEneSs"

BUT... the system certainly does work. I basically just guided myself through the somewhat difficult app aimlessly and got lucky the first time because everything synced up and worked immediately. If you don't pay the 2 bucks per month you'll still get notifications. It does notify you immediately and I'm glad I bought it. The only thing I don't like about it is it's a one time use.. kinda? I was looking for something that sends me a little notification when the door is opened. And every time it opens. But instead you can only "arm" your system and if there's a breach, your system goes into SOS mode and you get the one notification and you HAVE to go to the app to either disarm or re-arm it every single time. I hope I worded that in a way that makes sense. Your phone will go off at the first "breach" but until you deal with it in the app, someone could open the second door or keep opening and closing the doors and the system doesn't register any of those because it's too busy in SOS mode. This could totally be fixed with an app update. I just want to set it to "monitor mode" (in theory) and it work as a self perpetuating "beep" machine every single time the door gets opened so I'm not forced to open the app every single time someone opens the door... that's all I got. Anyway, still worth the purchase, it's still awesome to have despite my complaint.
Great

It serves it purpose, the only issue I have with the security alarm is the motion sensor, it's too sensitive and giving me false alarmed. I was able to connect it with Alexa which is a good thing.
Not Amazon Alexa Compatible
Mike✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 7, 2023
There's a placeholder in their app for linking up to Amazon Alexa but it doesn't seem it's actually implemented yet. That said, every other feature of it is very enjoyable. Although you do have to download a separate and clunky memory hogging app to manage the system.

Still, for the price this is an incredible value. The door / window sensors work perfectly and the base station is very small and unobtrusive. The base station does not sound an audible alarm. The only alarm will happen on your phone in the app.

I was looking for an Amazon integratable supplemental security product to secure my elderly mother in her crime-prone apartment building at night, in addition to the security cameras I already have installed. That said, I was looking for an Amazon Alexa compatible product when I was searching for a security system. And if I had known now what I had known then, I would have reserved my money for a system I could work through Amazon Alexa.
