This stand turned my cats into lazy entitled little turd factories. They used to run and play, now they just sit on their cat perch and stare off into the room thinking what can only be nortoriously evil plots to overthrow the world. They used to have to travel the great journey from their kitty bed across the vastness of the living room to their food bowl. Now they just turn side ways, grab a bite, and go back to plotting on overthrowing the world.

Only drawback will be when the cats finnaly make their move and off me... someone will have to patch the 16 holes the size of half dollars from the mounting hardware that came with this.

These are pretty good shelves! I took a star off for a couple of reasons, though: the included screws weren't really long enough (I used my own) and there are no pre-drilled holes for them to go into. Using a screwdriver alone was really challenging, and having holes included would have made things easier. You'd be fine with a power drill, I'm sure. Also: I live alone, so holding up the top shelf to screw it in was really hard. I had to balance it on my head. 😂

In terms of my cat's reaction: He didn't get what he was supposed to do. He looked at them for days, would just swipe the treats I put on the first stair to entice him (without climbing), and didn't seem interested. On day 4 of this I finally just picked him up and put him at the top: He loved it up there, used the scratching post surface, and sat for a while. I did have treats in the bowl, but it was a little deep for him to be comfortable (whisker fatigue). I'd suggest filling it up high or using your own bowls. He was able to climb down, but the stairs are bit steep the way I've installed them. My fault. I ordered a wider single shelf at the bottom that should make using the smaller shelves easier.

I'm trying to set up a climbing wall for my cats. My cat was not going to get on these shelves. He is the one who really likes to climb but I now have to add more sturdy, larger shelves or he is having nothing to do with these! Once I get the additional shelves I will use these to use only as latter steps to continue his climb.

We love this product. Our cat is not skinny! We purchased this so that dogs could not reach the cats food and water plus it gives the cat a place to hang out away from the dogs. She actually sits on the smaller shelf all the time. I do wish the shelves were a bit bigger but it does not seem to bother our cat. She weighs more then she should and so far they shelves are doing great. The cat uses them more than twice a day. Very sturdy.
