The trees have concrete bases to help steady them. You can fluff the trees to look full. I put mine in planters with top soil under the front porch, and so far they look amazing.

I have really enjoyed these artificial trees. I have ordered a set a year ago and set them on my front porch. They still look good with minimal fading. I liked them so well, I ordered another set for my back porch a few weeks ago. The only thing about them is that there are places where you can see through them at the top. Wish they were a bit fuller. But overall, they have held up really good. Also note, I have kept mine under porches. They do get wet, but I would not put in full sun as they will fade

I have these on each side of my entry way door. I put them in large black planters for the winter and they looks amazing. Having artificial plants on my covered porch is so much nicer than having a real plant as there isn't much sun and I don't have to remember to water them. I definitely recommend this product.
