Inexpensive, easy-to-use (power on, read temperature) and accurate within expectation. Typically reads anywhere from 97.5 to 97.9 (my own normal range) on my own forehead in a couple seconds. The one time recently I had a fever, it was reading 103.1 which was enough of an indication to myself I wasn't imagining things!
