I thought I was going to have to either replace my chair or the pneumatic canister. This product was cheaper than either option and accomplishes the task well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that they are a little harder to close than I had anticipated. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.

I purchased a chair here on Amazon. The reviews were mixed but it was a decent price. Short story, I hated the chair. It's not very comfortable. Then to add insult to injury, I released the lever on the chair to lower it and it wouldn't go back up. Whenever I would get it to the height I wanted, once I sat in it it would sink down. So I was bout to throw the chair out and buy another until I came across this item. Works like a charm, easy to install and saved me a good $250 over the price of replacing my chair. And it's a great price.

Perfect for my sinking chair! Going to buy it for my other chair. This saved me from having to buy another expensive office chair. Perfect for heavier people whose chairs sink after several months.

I bought my new office chair to replace an old one that was falling apart, but also to hopefully correct the tendency of the old one to sink over time. Sadly, this new chair quickly starting showing the same behavior - slowly sinking as I sat in it, requiring me to constantly raise it back up again. I checked for a solution online, and, short of replacing the cylinder, the most common solution was to use a piece of PVC pipe fitted around the cylinder. The trouble with that was, with my chair at least, it would have required disassembling and reassembling chair to get the PVC in place.
The Hero Fix was the perfect solution. It's inexpensive and provides set of clamps that easily install around the cylinder without needing to remove it from the chair and can be adjusted to several different heights by mixing the different sized clamps. One deficiency is that you can't combine them in any way to make 4", but I found that 4 1/4" works fine for my chair. They feel sturdy and click into place fairly easily. Once you install them the chair height will be fixed to at least the height of the clamps unless you remove and reinstall the clamps in a difference combination, but I always want my chair at its maximum height, so they are a perfect solution for me.

I was actually about to throw out my chair. It's only been six months and my chair dropped and wouldn't adjust back up. I had no idea how to fix it so I went online for solutions. I found these and I'm glad I did. They are easy to install. Just clasp them together from largest to smallest to the height that you need and it's fixed. I'm a big guy, 250 plus pounds and the hold my weight well. No cracking sounds. This was a cheap fix.
