The provided extension cable totally wont work, and youll have to remove your phone case to plug it into your phone. Going to try a usb c to usb c female>male coupler to see if this will get around this.
This device is everything I thought it would be, and more.
Very disappointed that I did not find highly trained team of special forces attempting to escape my neighborhood with this device. However I did find:
- Unsealed light fixtures and fans, leaking hot air from the attic.
- A door I installed was not nearly as sealed as I thought.
- Random uninsulated patches in the roof.
- Places where the blown-in insulation was clearly moved too much in the attic.
- Blinds and curtains combined are not enough in some rooms, and I'm going to need reflective window film.
- An uninsulated knee wall
- What my dogs would look like as raid bosses in Molten Core
Found the reason I bought it for: why two rooms were hotter upstairs than any other place upstairs.
This won't see through walls like in Eraser. It'll only view the heat affecting what you're looking at in your line of sight.
Topdon support went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. They contacted me early on, to make sure everything was good and wanted to know if there were any issues.

The TC001 has been very helpful in diagnosing heat related issues involving hydraulic equipment, automotive equipment, electrical equipment, and HVAC at home.
The only negative thing I have to say about it is that the software updated and there is no longer an option to rotate the image.
I have reached out to TOPDON about bringing back that option, but it was not addressed sufficiently to my liking.
I would prefer the previous software build instead.

Just download app and plug in unit to phone. The rest is obvious. I love it for characterizing breaker temperatures for EV chargers to see if there is overheating. Lots of electrical things have overheat temps and dozens of other uses for this.
