This is a different product than i would have guessed. Repairing shingles is a chore, and this works pretty good.

I usually use a pry bar and a hammer. Tried this and it's one tool that takes the place of two.

I don't have occasion to use this a lot (thankfully) but I'll keep this in my toolbox...just in case.

This works and is sturdy.

I have a pumphouse with a couple of damaged shingles. This looked like the best way not to have to completely strip and re-roof.
After experimenting, I managed to get it to work. It's heavy, but that's good for nailing.
If I used this regularly, I think it would be my favorite roofing tool!

I think this is a pretty incredible invention, though it has some limitations. The shingle has to raise up about 1/2 inch minimum to slide a nail under the shingle. This is not an issue if your shingle is still pliable. It holds the nail well. After you nail down the nail as far as you can, the nail will still stick up 1/4 inch as you remove the tool from under the shingle. It's not perfect, but it is extremely helpful.
It does what it is supposed to do. The nail removal end works well for removing nails anywhere. For small jobs or patch repairs, this thing is extremely helpful and will help you avoid damaging your shingles unnecessarily.
