Ultimately this H&R Block did fine with my taxes and it's a great value. Handled all the income and deduction categories, etc. I did have one serious (for me) problem - there was one prior year imported category that didn't apply to this year, and this program created a incorrectly drafted form - when I went to just delete the one offending form, it deleted all of my completed forms. I was 99% done and had to redo everything. Not fun. COULD VERY WELL HAVE BEEN MY MISTAKE, BUT IF SO IT WAS DUE TO AMBIGUOUS INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FINAL REVIEW & EDITING SCREENS. So, for this old dog, I didn't learn this new trick, I'll go back to what I've used for two decades.

I have been using this program for years. I think it's great for my needs without having a tax service charging much more.
Prior years load all tbe necessary information just update your w2 and 1099's . Easy steps to follow.

Everything is easy to read and understand. Most people just need to take the standard deduction. Most people just do not have the itemized deductions. The only thing I disliked was the extra fee for filing for the state. In my case it was another $20, which is not superbad, but still "hidden" cost. I also got it when it was at a slight discount. Still it is better to get here on Amazon. Still my cost was $35 and $20. I was able to download it easily. Super convinient. There are also many questions that it will ask you... example do you have student loans.... I guess owning a home might make it slightly more complicated. Owning and renting property requires you to upgrade.

Oh the state fee can come off the refund .... if you are owed. The health insurance is also a little more complicated. I am a military veteran, so it does not apply to me.

Well anyways I am happy with my experience.

Remember if you can use the VITA program. And NEVER get loans through tax preparers--- the money does not take long to get back to you.

Oh it also lets you correct things before you sumbit. Getting rid of typical errors.

Oh also both my returns were accepted quite fast ... federal acceptance is typically 6 to hours. Digital submission is awesome no need for postage. State acceptance takes a few hours more. Both mine were accepted by the next day.

This was of good quality, I didn't have any problems uploading and working on my taxes.

Moments after of your purchase you are e-mailed an Order Confirmation and Digital Delivery Confirmation (containing your Activation Code). Both have a "Access your content" button for the software. Simply clicking on one of the "Access your content" buttons takes you to the "Your Orders" page, and displays a "View Your Item" button under the product description. Clicking it takes you to the download page which also displays your Activation Code, needed for when you eventually open the downloaded software. You can also manually navigate to the "Your Orders" page.

The H&R Block software is easy and convenient to use, comparable to Turbo Tax and Tax Act, though note that Block's Deluxe version is the Premier version of Turbo Tax and Tax Act. The Q&A approach is used by the three brands I had listed. They can have several online updates thru March, but historically involve lesser-used forms. If you delay filing until after the last announced update (H&R Block provides info in their "Important Update Information" status box on the top right side when you open the software), you will be confident that you had used the up-to-date version of all forms. There is a convenient "Update" button on the left-hand side of the upper screen.

It helps to have a feel for the tax forms (from having done the paper version in the past) or at-least to have a copy of the blank forms for your tax situation, to have a road-map idea of where you are in the process vs. answering an ongoing series of questions wondering when it will end. In all fairness, H&R Block provides a list of logical sub-sections/buttons at the top of the page to know which tax sub-category you are in, and you can jump to the beginning of other sub-sections using the the buttons. There is a very useful "Previous Screen" button which takes you back to where you last made entries before navigating to other places. That will avoid going thru a sub-section's Q&A process from the beginning of where you want to get back to or manually going to a sub-section summary to then select a specific item.

When working on your taxes, you can save where you're at and then return later to continue from where you had last left it. You can file electronically, and it will provide you the acceptance status of your submission for both federal and state. The software is easy to use and a great value.
