Upon unpacking this 20 inch grate, I immediately noticed its considerable heft. The company claims it weighs more than its competitors' similar products, indicating its beefiness. I was skeptical of its claimed 16.4 pounds, so I weighed it and was pleasantly surprised to find that it actually weighs a little more.
I've been using this in a woodburning insert/stove, so it gets pretty hot in there when I load up the stove with lots of wood. After near continuous use over 2 months, it has held up just fine, with no indication of sagging or deformation of any sort. This a very durable grate which should last me several years at the minimum. I'll never buy another grate that doesn't have those center support 'legs'. They make a big difference.
