This SUNPOW Metal Detector Pinpointer is more along the lines of a metal detector. I checked the range and it will detect at around 8 inches too sensitive to use as a pinpointer, and being that sensitive it needs to have a stronger signal that can cause your regular metal detector to go off. although this does have its place in my toolkit you must realize its limitations.
