I usually never write reviews but this made the list for doing so. I purchased a Hydro Shield last spring on my Monterey 214fs with a 5.0MPI and Alpha 1 outdrive because I was looking for a solution to porpoising. Well the Hydro Shield fixed that problem and also added some performance from getting up on plane sooner and also cruising at a lower rpm.
Now the fun part. I recently had the boat in Florida and being a northerner on Lake Erie i quickly found the moving sand bars to be tricky to navigate and ran into quite a few dragging the outdrive. Hit some harder than others but thankfully because of the Hydro Shield I never tore up the prop or damaged the skeag.
Here is where the Hydro Shield saved my but. All loaded up and trailering home on I-75 somehow my outdrive decided to spring a hydraulic leak and lower the outdrive. A nice passer by in the fast lane let me know, thankfully. Pulled off the highway fearing the worst and low and behold the Hydro Shield was scraping the pavement, completely melted but saved the outdrive.
I will never be without one on my boat.

Improves your control of the boat

I installed this on my 19 ft. Bayliner and love it. Steering improved considerably and the boat went into plane mode much quicker and will plane at a much slower speed. I had damaged 2 props in the past and now, I feel more comfortable knowing I have some protection that may prevent any future damages.

Your paying for the protection cause the material is not worth the money. If it works its worth it to save a stainless prop. Did not send any mounting hardware ( bolts nuts)
