This cart looks identical to a popular name brand cart, but with different wheels. This also comes with a single strap rather than the more convenient two-piece strap on the name brand cart.

My kayaks are all put away for the winter, but I tested out the cart by strapping down a five gallon bucket. I was able to angle the hull pads to cradle the bucket securely, and the strap held it firmly in place. Overall, this cart will work very well.

Another great feature of this and the name brand cart is that it breaks down into several pieces that should be small enough to fit into practically any kayak hatch. My first photo shows the cart broken down into pieces. Assembly is easy and just requires slipping the kickstand in, snapping the two cross arms together and snapping in the hull pads. The wheels just slip on the axles and then some clever retention devices snap down to hold them in place (the name brand cart works the same way). Getting the wheels off is equally easy but getting the other pieces apart takes a bit of strength and finesse. Also note that the kickstand is pretty minimal. It's adjustable/retractable and plenty to hold the empty cart upright, but could never support the cart with a kayak attached. I have two photos showing the kickstand both down and retracted.

The wheels are 9 ¾ inches in diameter and 3 3/8 inches wide. They have a hard rubber-like outer tire on a plastic rim versus a more open plastic design for the name brand cart. The wheels don't have a very aggressive tread but feel like they should roll fine on harder terrain. They might skid a little on soft sand.

The only negative I can observe for this cart is that it comes with just a single strap that may have to be fed through the slots on the hull pads each time you use the cart. The name brand cart has a two-piece strap and each piece is left permanently attached to either of the hull pads. I'm taking one star off of the rating because this single strap is definitely less convenient than the two-piece.

I have not seen one of the name brand carts in person, but based on the substantial, quality feel of the plastic parts I'd guess this cart is the same as the name brand cart "“ same plastic, same molds. Perhaps using different wheels and a different strap allows it to be sold as a competing product. I did notice, however, that the box that this cart comes in clearly says it's made in China. The name brand cart is made in New Zealand.

We have 2 kids kayaks that we take to the lakes when we go RVing and we can actually fit both on this, it makes it a bit heavier, but that's what my husband and son are for!
I'm a bit worried with the plastic connections as other reviews have mentioned. The hard wheels are definitely a plus as we don't have to worry about getting a "flat".
Definitely recommend for the price!

The Velocity Kayak cart works well and is sturdy. I had to add zip ties to the wheel to prevent them from falling off when loading. You can see in the picture I posted a small zip tie securing the wheel. The first time I tried to use the cart, the wheels kept falling off at the boat ramp. The zip tie was an easy way to fix the problem.

The kickstand is a nice feature to hold the cart in place while loading your kayak on. The wheels are sturdy and roll well. You have to be careful when securing the cart with the strap or the cart will slip off. I have Hobie Kayaks which are on the heavy side, you do need to get good placement with the cart and strap it securely. Overall, it is a well built kayak cart and very reasonably priced.

Comes apart easier than I believe it should but it is serving its purpose!

The media could not be loaded. I typically bring a couple inflatable paddle boards to my trips to Kauai. One of them is a gigantic Isle Megalodon, that is over 12' long, and I need to lug it down a long trail to the beach every day. This cart is convenient to transport the boards and gear to the beach all by myself if I had to. It's pretty stable and had pretty wide tires for the sand. It's also optimum for packing in your luggage for flights because it's easy to take apart and distribute the different pieces to the separate luggage to keep each bag under 50 lbs.

It's super easy to assemble and a little tricky to get strapped to your board but I'm sure it gets easier with time. With my gigantic board I actually had to use a different strap to work, because I needed it longer, but the included strap should work with most boards or kayaks. There's a kickstand piece which I don't really think is necessary and I don't really use.

If you have needs like mine than this is the perfect cart for you.
