I would not use this book for primary research on a trip to Japan, especially if you are visiting for the first time. It is an excellent ancillary source, however. There are many examples of places to visit, eat, and stay, some different from the usual suggested tourist sites. I especially found the directions on how to get to places very helpful.

Good information and surprised to see most recommendations included in my upcoming cherry blossom tour. Really good information if you are planning to travel without a tour group. No practical information about money, credit/debit cards, etc. I think this might need to be updated after 5 years things change.
