Another good instruction manual to have if you're redoing your home. This is perfect as we were in the process of redoing both bathrooms. Very simple to understand and decent pricing. The quality is also pretty nice as well

Whether you're looking to replace a faucet or redo the whole bathroom this book gives you step-by-step instructions with color photos to walk you through the entire job.
The first section of the book takes you through the different product choices, from bathtubs to lighting to commodes. And, since this is a 2023 edition all the information on product offerings is up to date.
The rest of the book includes building codes, design standards, and finally step-by-step instructions on the construction and installation of the entire bathroom.
This book is a must-have for any DIYer looking to tackle a bathroom remodel.
Good amount of detail for a DIY book

Definitely a lot of great info with information clearly outlined and accompanying pictures. Sometimes its nice to have info you can hold in your hands and get away from staring at a computer screen with fast moving videos and advertisements everywhere.
Very easy to read and understand

Great book, does need some updating, had to return one because it had gotten wet somehow in shipping...never did get a refund for it.

This 256 page book appears to have everything you might want to know about how things can be upgraded or installed anew in modern bathrooms. There have to be well over a thousand photos. Most of the people shown are White males doing the work, which is my only general quibble about the images.

I can't review the entire text thoughtfully without weeks of study, so I'll scrutinize the one upgrade I have planned -- replacing a vent fan. Turns out there aren't helpful hints in here for those replacing a fan aside from recommendations about the fan ratings. Instead, the instructions are for taking a ceiling light and replacing it with a lighted ceiling exhaust fan that's vented outside. Let's see what might trip a DIYer up:

* There's a full checklist of tools and materials you'll want to do this home improvement, down to things like pencils and eye protection. That's good!

* When it talks in the preview about doing a new install of a roof-mounted vent, it says, "Carefully install flashing around the outside vent cover to prevent roof leaks." You know how to do that, right? That's what other books and the internet are for because this isn't a book on roofing.

* When removing the existing ceiling light, "Test the wire connections with a current tester to make sure they're not live..." Do you know how to do that?

* The pictures/instructions show how to vent the exhaust to an outside wall that's clad in wood siding. If you have brick or something else, you'd better look up those instructions elsewhere. Putting a 4" diameter hole in your external wall is something you'd want to get right the first time!

* In the final image, when the new fan/lamp combo has been installed, it says to patch and paint everywhere you've removed drywall. You know how to do that as well, right?

OK, maybe I chose a bad example to look at. How about toilets? How can one adjust a toilet that keeps running on and off? No luck. This is a book about bathroom remodeling, not repairs. Let me repeat that: This is not a repair book. It never claimed to be!

As long as you understand the limitations of this Black + Decker book, you'll find it useful. I really wish it had included perhaps web links to other potential solutions for issues you might come up against, like the ones I mentioned above. It's frustrations like that that can make a homeowner throw up their hands in frustrated defeat, which would be unfortunate.
